Description
Mexiprim composition
active substance mexiprim: ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate;
1 tablet contains ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate in terms of 100% of the substance 125 mg;
Excipients mexiprim: kaolin, sodium starch glycolate, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, talc, calcium stearate.
Release form
Film-coated tablets.
Pharmacological properties
Mexiprim is an inhibitor of free radical processes, a membrane protector, has antihypoxic, stress, nootropic, anticonvulsant and anxiolytic effects. The drug increases the body’s resistance to various damaging factors, to oxygen-dependent pathological conditions, shock, hypoxia and ischemia, cerebrovascular disorders, alcohol intoxication and antipsychotics (neuroleptics).
Indications

Contraindications
Mexiprim is not used in pediatric practice if the patient has severe disorders of the liver and kidneys, hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. The drug is not used for the treatment of pregnant and lactating women.
Children
Strictly controlled clinical trials of the safety of the drug in children have not been performed, so it should not be used in this category of patients.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
The drug is not prescribed for the treatment of pregnant and lactating women, since there is insufficient data on the degree of its influence on the development of the fetus and newborn.
Method of administration and dosage
Mexiprim should be administered orally. Therapeutic doses used and duration of treatment are determined by the sensitivity of patients to the drug. Start treatment with a dose of 250-500 mg; the average daily dose is 250-500 mg; maximum daily – 800 mg. Divide the daily dose into 2-3 doses during the day.
- Patients with anxiety, neurocirculatory dysfunction and cognitive impairment should use Mexiprim for 2-6 weeks.
- For relief of alcohol withdrawal syndrome Mexiprim used for 5-7 days.
- The course of therapy with Mexiprim should be completed gradually, reducing the dose of the drug for 2-3 days.
- The duration of treatment for patients with coronary heart disease – at least 1.5-2 months. Repeated courses (recommended by a doctor) are desirable in the spring and autumn.
Overdose
If during the treatment with the drug the dose was accidentally or specially increased, then the patient may experience increased drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness and headaches. If there are no violations in the work of vital organs, then you can limit yourself to gastric lavage, the appointment of enterosorbents and forced diuresis.
Side effects
The drug is well tolerated by patients, however, in some cases, its intake may be accompanied by impaired coordination of movements, nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth, insomnia, increased anxiety, headaches, lability of blood pressure, emotional reactivity and the appearance of various allergic reactions.
Storage conditions and periods
Store in a dry, dark place. The shelf life of the tablets – 5 years.
