Miconazol composition
active substance: miconazole;
1 g of cream contains 20 mg miconazole nitrate;
excipients: propylene glycol, macrogol 400, poloxamer, macrogol cetostearyl ether, cetostearyl alcohol.

Pharmacological properties
This drug Miconazol belongs to the group of antifungal pharmaceuticals used in dermatology and venereology.
The main active ingredient of the drug is miconazole nitrate. It is an antifungal drug derived from imidazole. Possesses fungicidal activity against various yeasts, as well as yeast-like and other pathogenic fungi.
It is able to interfere with the biosynthesis of amino acids, which are important for the construction of steroidal fungal membranes. As a result, its barrier protection is violated, the fungus dies.
Also produces an antibacterial effect against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.
It has a hyperosmolar effect, as a result, its use produces an anti-exudative effect.
Indications

Contraindications
You should not use the specified drug if the patient has had a previous hypersensitivity (allergy) with respect to one of the components that are part of the drug – both main and auxiliary.
Children
It is not used in pediatrics until the age of 12.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Treatment of pregnant women is contraindicated.
During treatment with this drug, breastfeeding should be suspended.
Method of administration and dosage
In the treatment of fungal skin lesions, Miconazol is applied in a thin layer 2 times a day. In this case, you should carefully rub the drug in the folds of the skin, between the fingers, in the folds of the buttocks.
It is not necessary to cover with a dressing, but if necessary, you can apply, including an occlusive dressing.
The duration of the course of treatment is from 1 to 6 weeks. Candidomycosis of the skin – 3 weeks. Dermatophytosis – 3-4 weeks.
After the symptoms of the disease have passed, treatment should be continued for another 1 week.
In the treatment of nail fungus (onychomycosis), the drug is applied to the nail plate 2 times a day, during the entire growth time of a new nail (up to 3 months).
Overdose
Overdose with this drug does not cause any particular adverse events due to too low dosage and has not yet been observed.
In the case of prolonged use, theoretically, depression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system can develop.
In this case, it is recommended to apply symptomatic therapy – to cancel, slowly reducing the dosage, to induce diuresis, for which to drink plenty of fluids.
Side effects
The drug is usually well tolerated. Side effects can occur only in rare cases. In particular, there may be observed:
- suppression of the functions of the adrenal glands;
- itching and discomfort at the injection site;
- burning and tingling sensation at the site of application, allergic urticaria;
- depression, hallucinations, personality disorders;
- dark urine, anorexia, taste disturbances, inflammation of the oral cavity, coated tongue, glossitis, nausea, vomiting, constipation, epigastric pain, diarrhea, dry mouth, abdominal cramps;
- agranulocytosis, leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, pancytopenia;
- anaphylactic reactions, angioedema.
Storage conditions and periods
This Miconazol medicinal product is able to retain its medicinal properties for 3 years from the date of manufacture.
The drug should be kept out of the reach of children. The storage temperature should not be lower than 8 and should not exceed 25 ° C.
