Description

Midriacil composition
The active active ingredient of the drops is tropicamide. Additional ingredients – benzalkonium chloride, disodium edetate, sodium hydroxide, sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid, water.

Release form
The drug is produced in the form of eye drops, in volumes of 15 ml, with an active substance concentration of 1%. Produced in a special bottle with a dropper “Droptainer”.

Pharmacological properties
Midriacil is a medication used in ophthalmology, eye drops that block receptors in the sphincter of the pupil and ciliary muscle. With the help of the drug, pupil dilation and paralysis of the ciliary muscle are caused, the maximum effect reaches within 20 minutes after instillation. This is done for the purpose of drug shutdown of the muscle, for the study and diagnosis of refraction.
This effect is of a short-term nature, for the period of the diagnosis.

Indications for use

Contraindications
It is contraindicated to prescribe the drug to patients suffering from increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug, as well as with a tendency to glaucoma and its initial stage.
Carefully use the drug with a pronounced increase in intraocular pressure, in the presence of a prostate gland disease, inflammatory processes in the ocular system, a shallow anterior chamber of the eye.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding period
The use of Midriacil in pregnant women is permitted subject to medical supervision.
The drug has no properties to penetrate into breast milk, therefore, it can be used without special fears during lactation. Again, with medical supervision of the situation.

Mode of application
Before carrying out a skiascopic examination, 1-2 drops of a 1% Midriacil solution are instilled into the eyes, if the patient did not have time or do not have time to examine within the next 5 minutes, then the procedure is repeated.
When carrying out fundoscopy, 1–2 drops of a 0.5% solution of the drug are instilled into each eye 15 minutes before the examination procedure. If there is strong pigmentation of the irises, the procedure is repeated or the dose is increased. After instillation of the eye, the lacrimal sac is squeezed for a few minutes so that the drug is better absorbed.

Overdose
If the drug is accidentally dropped into the eye more than it should be, it is enough to rinse the eyes with running water.
In childhood, systemic intoxication of tropicamide is possible after local application. Symptoms are dry mucous membranes, hallucinations, behavioral changes, fever, convulsions, and heart rhythm disturbances.

Adverse reactions
Taking the drug in some patients can cause unpleasant symptoms:

  • increased intraocular pressure;
  • psychotic reactions;
  • deterioration of vision;
  • attack of angle-closure glaucoma;
  • renal failure;
  • headache;
  • photophobia;
  • changing behavior and reactions to ordinary situations;
  • opacity of the cornea;
  • increased ophthalmotonus;
  • dry mouth;
  • hypotension;
  • allergic reactions;
  • myocardial insufficiency;
  • burning of the mucous membrane;
  • dysuria;
  • decreased sweating;
  • temperature rise;
  • tachycardia.

Storage conditions
It is important to wound the opened solution of the drug in a tightly closed state in a dark cool place (from 8 to 30 C). When closed, Midriacil solution is usable for 3 years from the date of issue.
