Scientific Evidence:
Montelukast, the active ingredient in Milucant, is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that works by blocking the action of leukotrienes in the body. Leukotrienes are chemicals in the body that can cause asthma symptoms by constricting airways, increasing mucus production, and inflammation. By blocking leukotrienes, montelukast helps to improve asthma symptoms and control asthma attacks.
Clinical trials have shown that montelukast is effective in improving lung function, reducing asthma symptoms, and decreasing the frequency of asthma attacks. A study published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology demonstrated that montelukast provided significant improvements in lung function and asthma control compared to a placebo.
Additional Information:
It is important to note that Milucant chewing tablets are not meant for the treatment of acute asthma attacks and should not replace rescue inhalers. Always follow your healthcare provider’s instructions for asthma management and use medications as prescribed.
Consult your doctor before starting Milucant to ensure it is the right treatment for your asthma condition. Inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking to avoid potential drug interactions.
