Description

Momederm composition
Main active ingredient: mometasone furoate.
Excipients: citric acid, monohydrate, propylene glycol, mineral oil, lanolin alcohol, cetostearyl alcohol, glycerol monostearate, white soft paraffin.

Release form
It is produced in the form of an ointment, in tubes of 15 grams each. 1 gram of the drug contains 1 mg of mometasone.

Pharmacological properties
Momederm belongs to a group of corticosteroid drugs used in dermatology for the treatment of skin diseases.
Mometasone furoate – the main active ingredient of the drug, is a synthetic corticosteroid used topically. It has a pronounced anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, vasoconstrictor (vasoconstrictor) and antiallergic effect.
An important factor is that the therapeutic effect is achieved with minimal doses of the drug. As a result, side effects of a systemic nature do not occur when it is used.
The mechanisms that make it possible to achieve such a medicinal effect when using mometasone are based on the ability of this drug to cause a decrease in the amount of released mediators of an allergic reaction.
Even in patients with seasonal allergic rhinitis, there was a decrease in the number of secreted leukocytes and leukotrienes.

Indications
Momederm is used to treat inflammation and pruritus in dermatoses amenable to corticosteroid therapy, including psoriasis (except for common plaque psoriasis) and atopic dermatitis, in adults and children over 2 years of age.

Contraindications
You should not use the specified drug if the patient has had a previous hypersensitivity (allergy) with respect to one of the components that are part of the drug – both basic and auxiliary.
Also contraindicated for:

  • bacterial infections (tuberculosis, syphilis, pyoderma);
  • viral infections (herpes, chickenpox, condyloma).
  • fungal infections of the skin;
  • parasitic infections.

Children
For children over 2 years of age, the drug is used only on prescription.
Because children have a higher surface area to body weight ratio than adults, children are more at risk for suppression of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal function and manifestations of Cushing’s syndrome with any topical corticosteroids that increase when applied over 20 % of body surface.
It is recommended to use the minimum amount of glucocorticosteroids required to obtain a therapeutic effect. The course of treatment should not exceed 5 days. Long-term treatment with glucocorticosteroids may delay the growth and development of the child.
The safety of Momederm® in children for more than 6 weeks has not been studied.
There are only limited data on the treatment of children under 2 years of age.
Mometasone should not be used to treat dermatitis caused by wearing diapers.
The cream should not be applied under occlusive dressings unless prescribed by a doctor, and should not be applied to areas under diapers or panties that do not allow moisture.

Application during pregnancy and lactation
Treatment of pregnant women is carried out with every possible care, only for serious indications.
Breastfeeding should be suspended during treatment.

Method of administration and dosage
Adults and children over 12 use this drug by applying a thin layer of ointment to the skin lesion.
It is permissible to apply the cream once a day (in the morning or in the evening).
Maximum per day, you can apply no more than 15 grams of the drug, while covering no more than 30% of the skin.
The duration of the treatment course is directly dependent on the course of the disease, its severity, the individual response of the body to treatment.
Treatment usually does not last more than 3 weeks. It is permissible to apply on the face for no longer than 5 days.
Do not apply an occlusive dressing to the ointment.
Cancellation of the drug should be made by gradually reducing the dosage.

Overdose
Overdose with this drug does not cause any particular adverse events due to too low dosage.
In the case of prolonged use, theoretically, suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system can develop.
In this case, it is recommended to apply symptomatic therapy – slowly reduce the dosage, induce diuresis, for which drink plenty of fluids.

Side effects
Usually the drug is well tolerated. Side effects can occur only in rare cases. In particular, there may be observed:

  • suppression of the functions of the adrenal glands;
  • itching, atrophy of certain areas of the skin, striae, dermatitis, ecchymosis, folicullitis, furunculosis, hypertrichosis, hypopigmentation of the skin, maceration and dry skin, acne-like dermatitis, contact dermatitis, perioral dermatitis, peeling, prickly heat;
  • a burning sensation and tingling sensation at the site of application;
  • expansion of superficial blood vessels (especially in the face);
  • the occurrence of a secondary infection.

Storage conditions and periods
Momederm is able to maintain its medicinal properties for 2 years from the date of production.
The drug should be kept out of the reach of children. Storage temperature should not exceed 25 ° C.
