Scientific Evidence
Montelukast, the active ingredient in Montelucast-Teva, is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that works by blocking the action of leukotrienes in the body. Leukotrienes are chemicals in the body that can cause asthma symptoms by constricting airways, increasing mucus production, and causing inflammation.
Clinical trials have shown that montelukast is effective in improving asthma symptoms, reducing the frequency of asthma attacks, and improving lung function in both adults and children.
Additional Information
- It is important to note that Montelucast-Teva should not be used for the treatment of acute asthma attacks but rather for the long-term management of asthma symptoms.
- Always inform your doctor about any other medications you are taking before starting Montelucast-Teva to avoid potential drug interactions.
