Composition

active ingredient: motherwort herb tincture (Tinctura Leonuri) (1:5) (extractant – ethanol 70%);

1 bottle contains tinctures of motherwort herb (Tinctura Leonuri) (1:5) (extractant – ethanol 70%) – 25 ml or 50 ml.

Dosage form

Tincture.

Basic physical and chemical properties: transparent liquid of greenish-brown color. Precipitation is allowed during storage.

Pharmacological properties

The drug Motherwort tincture has a calming effect. Biologically active substances contained in motherwort grass (steroid and flavonoid glycosides, essential oil, stahydrin, leopurin alkaloid, saponins, tannins), enhance the process of inhibition or reduce the process of excitation in the central nervous system. It has no hypnotic effect, but facilitates the onset of physiological sleep and deepens it. Does not cause the phenomena of addiction, mental dependence.

Indication Motherwort tincture

Functional disorders of the cardiovascular system (neurocirculatory dystonia of the hypertensive type), the initial stages of hypertension, as well as increased emotional excitability, irritability, mild forms of sleep disorders.

Contraindication

Severe arterial hypotension (low blood pressure), bradycardia. Increased individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Method of application and dosage

Motherwort tincture is taken orally after a meal.

Adults are prescribed 30 – 50 drops of tincture 3-4 times a day, children over 12 years – at the rate of 1 drop of tincture for 1 year of life.

The duration of treatment is determined individually for each patient, taking into account the nature, severity of the pathological process, the peculiarities of the disease, tolerability of the drug and the stability of the achieved therapeutic effect.

Children

Do not use orally in children under 12 years of age due to ethanol content.

Overdose

At excess of the recommended doses of drug dizziness, drowsiness, decrease in arterial pressure, development of hypersensitivity to drug can be observed.

In case of overdose, the drug should be discontinued and immediate measures of symptomatic and supportive therapy should be taken (according to the patient’s clinical condition).

Side effects

With individual hypersensitivity to the drug may develop allergic reactions (including redness and swelling of the skin, rash, itching), as well as dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, decreased mental and physical performance.
