Mucaltin composition
active substance: 5 ml of syrup contain marshmallow root extract dry (Althaeae radix) (extractant – water) in terms of 20.0% polysaccharide content – 7.5 mg;
auxiliary substances: methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218) (preservative), refined sugar, purified water.

Dosage form
Syrup.

Pharmacological properties
Mucaltin syrup based on marshmallow root extract is a complex herbal preparation containing polysaccharides as the main active ingredient, as well as pectins, amino acids, and starch. The drug has a bronchosecretory, expectorant, enveloping effect. Reflexively stimulates the secretion of the bronchial and salivary glands. It activates the formation of sputum, normalizing its rheological properties (viscosity, elasticity, adhesiveness), enhances the peristaltic movement of bronchioles and the motor function of the ciliated epithelium of the bronchi, causing cytoprotective and anti-inflammatory effects, promotes tissue regeneration.

Indications
Cough in acute and chronic respiratory diseases: bronchitis, laryngitis, tracheitis, bronchial asthma, whooping cough.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to drug components.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions
It is not recommended to use it simultaneously with antitussives (for example, codeine).

Application features
Do not violate the rules for using the drug.
During storage, precipitation is allowed. Shake well before use.
If shortness of breath, fever or purulent sputum develops during treatment, you should immediately consult a doctor.
The absorption of drugs used at the same time may decrease. Other drugs must be used 1 hour before or 1 hour after the application of the marshmallow root extract.
Use with caution in diabetes mellitus.
The presence of methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218) in the composition can cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).

Children
The drug can be used in children from 2 years of age.

Application during pregnancy or lactation
There is no information about the experience of using the drug during pregnancy or lactation.

Method of administration and dosage
Shake well before use. Take Mucaltin before meals: adults and children from 14 years old – 15 ml of syrup 4-6 times a day.
For children from 6 to 14 years old, use 10 ml of syrup 4-6 times a day; from 2 to 6 years old – 5 ml of syrup 4-6 times a day.
The duration of the course of therapy is determined by the doctor individually, depending on the effectiveness of the treatment and, as a rule, is 7-14 days.

Overdose
Overdose cases are unknown.

Side effects
Allergic reactions, increased salivation, irritation of the gastric mucosa are possible.
In case of any undesirable reactions, you should stop treatment and consult a doctor.

Shelf life
3 years.
The drug should not be used after the expiration date indicated on the package.

Storage conditions
Store in its original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
After opening, store for no more than 14 days at a temperature of 4–8. Keep out of the reach of children.
