Scientific Evidence:
Dronedarone, the active ingredient in Multak, exerts its antiarrhythmic effects by prolonging the atrial action potential duration and refractory period. It also exhibits beta-blocking and calcium channel blocking properties, contributing to its antiarrhythmic actions.
Clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of dronedarone in reducing the recurrence of atrial fibrillation and decreasing the risk of cardiovascular hospitalization in patients with atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter. Studies have shown that Multak is well-tolerated and effective in maintaining sinus rhythm in these patients.
Additional Information:
It is important to monitor liver function tests regularly during treatment with Multak due to the potential risk of hepatotoxicity. Patients should be advised to report any signs of liver injury such as jaundice, fatigue, or abdominal pain.
Multak may interact with other medications, so it is essential to inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines you are taking before starting treatment with Multak.
