Nazoferon is used for the treatment and prevention of acute respiratory viral infections in adults and children from 1 month of age. The drug is indicated for the treatment of patients: suffering from frequent diseases of the upper respiratory tract; exposed to contact with patients suffering from an acute viral infection; have suffered hypothermia. Also, its use is effective for the prevention of respiratory viral infections during seasonal epidemics.

Description

Nazoferon composition
active substance: interferon alfa-2b;
1 ml of drops contains recombinant human interferon alfa-2b 100,000 IU;
excipients: trometamol, trometamol hydrochloride, hypromellose, disodium edetate, lysine hydrochloride, potassium chloride, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), water for injection.

Indications
Nazoferon is used for the treatment and prevention of acute respiratory viral infections in adults and children from 1 month of age.
The drug is indicated for the treatment of patients:

  • suffering from frequent diseases of the upper respiratory tract;
  • exposed to contact with patients suffering from an acute viral infection;
  • have suffered hypothermia.

Also, its use is effective for the prevention of respiratory viral infections during seasonal epidemics.

Contraindications
The appointment of Nazoferon is unacceptable if the patient suffers from hypersensitivity to interferon alfa-2b or severe allergic diseases.

Children
Nazoferon is used to treat children from 1 month of age.

Application for pregnancy and breastfeeding
Nazoferon does not have any toxic or teratogenic effect on the fetus or newborn, therefore it can be used in the therapy of pregnant and lactating women.

Method of application and dosage
Nazoferon should be injected into each nasal passage in strict accordance with the indicated dosage regimen. After the introduction of the drug, it is recommended to lightly massage the wings of the nose with your fingers for several minutes.
Recommended for use at the first sign of illness. Newborns and children under one year old should receive the drug 5 r / d, 1 drop in each nasal passage, from a year to 3 years – 3 or 4 times a day, 2 drops or 2 doses of spray, from 3 to 14 years old – 4 or 5 r / d for 2 drops or 2 doses of a spray.
Adults receive Nazoferon 5 to 6 times a day, 3 drops or 3 doses of a spray.
For prophylactic purposes, persons who have been exposed to hypothermia and who have been in contact with patients with acute respiratory viral infection should receive the drug in accordance with an age-specific dosage from 6 to 7 times a day. During seasonal epidemics of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections, it is recommended to receive the drug in age-specific dosages with an interval of 1 to 2 days.

Overdose
Cases of drug overdose are not officially registered.

Side effects
As a rule, treatment with Nazoferon is well tolerated by patients, however, in rare cases, patients with hypersensitivity develop various allergic reactions, manifested by redness and burning sensation of the nasal mucosa.

Storage conditions and terms
Store nasoferon in a cool place protected from light. If the bottle has not been opened, the shelf life of the medicinal product is 2 years, after opening the bottle – 10 days.
