Description

Nazol composition
active substance: oxymetazoline hydrochloride;
1 ml of solution contains oxymetazoline hydrochloride 0.5 mg (0.05% solution);
excipients: benzalkonium chloride; disodium edetate, dihydrate; macrogol 400; povidone; propylene glycol; sodium dihydrogen phosphate, dihydrate; sodium hydrogen phosphate, dihydrate; purified water.

Dosage form
Nasal spray.

Pharmacological properties
Nazol has a vasoconstrictor effect, manifested in a decrease in hot flushes, a decrease in swelling of the mucous membranes of the nose, paranasal sinuses and Eustachian tubes, as a result, breathing through the nose resumes. In addition, Nazol has an anti-inflammatory effect on the lining of the nasal passages, protecting it from drying out.
The vasoconstrictor effect is usually local, i.e., it is formed only at the site of the nasal mucosa. Its effect increases within 5 to 10 minutes after application.
Nazol’s action lasts 12 hours.

Indications
The use of Nazol is recommended for the treatment of various colds associated with inflammatory processes in the nasal sinuses, sinusitis, sinusitis of various origins (frontal sinusitis, ethmoiditis), acute otitis media, as well as for ARVI, allergies in which rhinitis is observed. Effectively relieves swelling of the mucous membranes in diseases in the nasal cavities.

Contraindications
Nazol is not used for individual intolerance to certain active substances of the drug, severe forms of hypertension, severe atherosclerosis, disorders of the heart, kidneys, prostate gland, thyrotoxicosis, angina pectoris, pheochromocytoma, diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism, atrophic rhinitis, glaucoma. It is strictly forbidden to use Nazol after surgical interventions in which the dura mater was opened, in particular, transsphenoidal hypophysectomy. You should not prescribe Nazol for inflammation of the skin near the nasal passages or mucous membranes in the nose, hypertension, the use of monoamineosidase inhibitors and within 2 weeks after the end of treatment with drugs of this group.

Children
Not prescribed for children under 6 years of age.

Application during pregnancy and lactation
There are no studies proving the complete safety of Nazol for the fetus.

Method of administration and dosage
Squeezing the bottle, inject one or two portions of the Nazol substance into each sinus. Don’t throw your head back!
Children from 6 to 12 years old – 1 injection 2 times a day, from 12 and older – 2 injections 2 times a day are allowed.
The treatment process does not exceed three days. Up to 7 days can be used only as directed by a doctor.

Overdose
Excitation of the central nervous system is possible, symptoms of which may be fear, agitation, hallucinations, convulsions. An overdose with Nazol may also be a sharp narrowing of the pupils, nausea, vomiting, cyanosis, fever, spasms, tachycardia, an attack of hypertension, pulmonary edema, shortness of breath, arrhythmia, cardiac arrest.
Inverse symptoms may also occur – inhibition of the functions of the central nervous system (bradycardia, hypotension, respiratory arrest, coma).
Urgent hospitalization and intensive care are shown, with gastric lavage, the appointment of sorbents, and, if necessary, resuscitation measures.

Side effects
Usually the drug is well tolerated by patients. However, with excessively prolonged or excessively frequent injection of Nazol, there may be a flush of blood to the face, sneezing, dryness of the nasal mucosa, and the development of reactive hyperemia (a feeling of severe nasal congestion). With constant use of vasoconstrictor nasal sprays, including Nazola, tachyphylaxis or rhinitis medicamentosa may develop.
You may also experience tachycardia, increased blood pressure, heart pain, rash, itching, Quincke’s edema. The nervous system can react with anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, headache.

Storage conditions and periods
Nazol can be stored for 3 years at temperatures up to + 30 ° C.
