Description

Nebido composition
One ampoule contains: 1000 mg of testosterone undecaonate. Additional ingredients include benzyl benzoate and castor oil.

Release form
The drug is produced in the form of an injectable oil liquid, in glass ampoules of 4 ml.

Pharmacological properties
Nebido is an androgenic agent. It is used to treat hypogonadism (insufficient production of sex hormones), both primary and secondary. The active substance – testosterone, is an ester of testosterone, the main sex hormone in men, which is responsible for the development of the genitals and secondary sexual characteristics. Testosterone is also involved in metabolic processes in the skin, muscles, central nervous system, bone tissue, bone marrow, liver and kidneys. It is produced by the testes and partly by the adrenal glands. Insufficient testosterone production leads to decreased libido, muscle weakness, decreased performance, and many other adverse effects. When ingested, testosterone undecaonate breaks down predominantly into dihydronestosterone. Only a small part of the substance is divided into estrogens, thereby reducing the risk of saturation with female hormones and the development of gynecomastia. It is metabolized mainly (90%) through the genitourinary system and about 5% through the intestines. The drug helps to increase testosterone levels on the second day after use. In cases of hypogonadism – 7-14 days.

Mode of application
An important point when using Nebido is a warning that you should not inject the drug intravenously or allow it to enter the vessels. This can cause blockage of blood vessels in the lungs. Only slow, intramuscular injection is allowed. The dosage is calculated based on the data obtained from the testosterone production tests. On average, the dose can be 1 ampoule (4 ml), every 10-15 weeks. The minimum possible interval between the introduction is 6 weeks. While taking the drug, it is necessary to monitor the testosterone level after each injection. Based on the testosterone levels in the body, the interval between hormone injections can vary. The higher the testosterone level, the longer the breaks between meals should be.
During the reception of the drug, it is necessary to be regularly examined for the presence of disorders of the prostate gland.

Overdose
Exceeding the permissible doses of the drug is fraught with an increase in the level of testosterone in the body, with all the ensuing consequences. Treatment: adjusting the dosage and intervals of administration of the agent.
