Nicotinic acid composition
The solution contains 10 mg nicotinic acid as an active component, as additional components: sodium bicarbonate and water for injection
Release form
The drug is available in the form of a solution for injection, a colorless transparent liquid.
10 ampoules of 1 ml of solution are packed in a cardboard box (2 contour packs of 5 ampoules each).
Pharmacological properties
Nicotinic Acid belongs to the group of peripheral vasodilators. The drug normalizes the content of triglycerides and lipoproteins in the blood, improves microcirculation, and eliminates vitamin PP deficiency. It has anticoagulant, detoxification and anti-pellagric action.
Indications for use
The drug Nicotinic Acid is used and prescribed for the treatment of:
- vitamin PP deficiency (pellagra);
- ischemic disorders of cerebral circulation;
- vascular spasms of the extremities (Raynaud’s disease, obliterating endarteritis), renal vasospasm;
- enterocolitis, hypoacid gastritis, colitis;
- liver diseases (chronic and acute hepatitis);
- neuritis of the facial nerve;
- long healing wounds and ulcers;
- complications of diabetes mellitus (microangiopathy, diabetic polyneuropathy);
- intoxications of various origins: alcoholic, professional and medicinal (barbiturates, sulfonamides, aniline derivatives, anti-tuberculosis drugs).
Contraindications
The drug is contraindicated for use in: gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer in the acute stage, hyperuricemia, gout, severe liver failure (including cirrhosis), decompensated diabetes mellitus, severe forms of arterial hypertension and atherosclerosis,
It is also contraindicated to administer after a recent myocardial infarction, with increased sensitivity to the components of the drug, a sudden decrease in peripheral vascular resistance in history, in children under 15 years of age.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding period
The use of the drug is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
Mode of application
The drug Nicotinic Acid is intended for intravenous or intramuscular administration.
Before administration, the drug is diluted in 0.9% sodium chloride solution.
The dose and duration of use depends on the disease and the severity of its course.
The recommended dose is 1 ml (10 mg) 1-2 times a day for 10-15 days.
The maximum single dose for intravenous administration is 10 ml (100 mg), the daily dose is 30 ml (300 mg).
Overdose
An overdose of the drug is accompanied by the following symptoms: headache, arterial hypotension, dizziness, possible loss of consciousness, a feeling of flushing, as well as increased side reactions from the cardiovascular system.
At the first signs of intoxication, it is necessary to cancel the drug, carry out detoxification therapy and symptomatic treatment.
Adverse reactions
Side effects when using the drug are: shortness of breath, palpitations and tachycardia, excessive sweating, edema, chills, burning and tingling sensations, a significant decrease in blood pressure, arrhythmia, orthostatic hypotension and collapse.
Also possible: hyperemia of the skin of the upper half of the body and face with a burning sensation and tingling sensation, dry skin, edema of the retina, dryness of the mucous membrane of the eyes, acanthosis. As a rule, after discontinuation of the drug, these symptoms disappear.
Hypersensitivity reactions including urticaria, rash and itching.
When used for a long time or in large doses, hyperuricemia, liver dysfunction, jaundice, decreased glucose tolerance, fatty degeneration of the liver, increased levels of aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase, uric acid may occur. Also hypophosphatemia, hyperpigmentation, decreased platelet count, hyperkeratosis, convulsions, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, exacerbation of stomach ulcers, anorexia, amblyopia, myalgia, insomnia, rhinitis, lowering blood pressure, edema by infrared, blurred vision, dermatitis and exfoliative.
Storage conditions
Store the drug Nicotinic Acid at a temperature that does not exceed + 25 ° C, in a place without direct sunlight and away from children.
