Nizoral cream is indicated for: dermatomycosis and mycoses of the skin caused by the fungus candida; groin epidermophytosis; pityriasis versicolor; epidermophytosis of feet and hands; seborrhea.
Description
Nizoral composition
The main active ingredient is ketoconazole.
Release form
Nizoral is available as a topical cream.
The cream is available in tubes of 15 g.
Pharmacological properties
A drug with an effective effect on yeast and dimorphic fungi, dermatophytes and eumycetes. Acts on streptococci and staphylococci.
The active substance is ketoconazole, a derivative of imidazole diaxolan. The drug has a powerful destructive effect of the cell membrane of the structure of the fungus and prevents its reproduction.
Ketoconazole does not allow androgens to be synthesized, is well absorbed and begins to act 2 hours after administration.
The drug, when used internally, is found in blood, plasma and other biological fluids in the form of urine, bile and even saliva.
When applied externally, the drug is not detected in the blood.
Indications
Nizoral cream is indicated for:
- dermatomycosis and mycoses of the skin caused by the fungus candida;
- groin epidermophytosis;
- pityriasis versicolor;
- epidermophytosis of feet and hands;
- seborrhea.
Contraindications
High sensitivity to drug components, regardless of the form of release.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Cream and shampoo can be used by pregnant women and women during lactation, except for individual intolerance.
Method of administration and dosage
Nizoral cream is applied to the affected skin no more than twice a day. The duration of treatment also depends on the severity of the disease, its course and nature.
Basically, the course is at least two weeks.
- For the treatment of dermatomycosis, 3-4 weeks of systemic use are required.
- For the treatment of epidermophytosis groin and athlete’s foot, it will take 2 to 6 weeks.
- Candida fungus and pityriasis versicolor will have to be treated for 2-3 weeks.
The course of treatment for seborrhea is from 2 to 4 weeks.
Overdose
Overdose cases have not been identified.
Side effects
Cream and shampoo can cause local reactions such as rash, itching, irritation, and a burning sensation. Contact dermatitis is extremely rare.
Storage conditions
The validity period of Nizoral cream – up to 5 years.
Store in a dry and dark place at normal room temperature.
