Norcolut composition and form of release
The active ingredient is norethisterone, auxiliary components are also included in its composition (gelatin, starch, lactose). Sold in the form of 5 mg tablets, 20 per pack.

Pharmacological properties
The active active ingredient of the drug, norethisterone, is included in the group of gestagens, but it has, although to a lesser extent, properties that androgens and estrogens also have. Norcolut promotes the early end of the period of endometrial proliferation in the stage of secretion. In the event that fertilization has taken place, the drug continues to maintain the state of the endometrium in an optimal way for the development and growth of the embryo. Reduces the ability of the myometrium to contract.
If the recommended dosages are not exceeded, the Norcolut drug in question has a positive effect on the inhibition of the production of hormones that the pituitary gland produces. In turn, this prevents the maturation of follicles, the implementation of ovulation.

Indications

Contraindications
It is absolutely contraindicated in malignant neoplasms of the breast and organs responsible for reproduction. It is extremely undesirable to prescribe for epilepsy, severe pathologies of the liver, kidneys, heart, with bronchial asthma, blood clotting disorders, predisposition to thrombophlebitis, thrombosis.
Also, it is not recommended to take it in combination therapy with the participation of antihyperglycemic agents, steroids, oral coagulants, as well as drugs that affect microsomal oxidation in the liver (barbiturates, cimetidines, rifampicin).

Application during pregnancy and lactation
In certain application regimens, it prevents lactation and pregnancy. In some cases, it is taken to prevent miscarriage.

Method of administration and dosage:

  • Prevention of uterine bleeding, prevention of PMS: 5-10 mg, from the 16th to the 25th day of the cycle.
  • Dysfunctional uterine bleeding, cystic-glandular hyperplasia: 5-10 mg, for 6-10 days.
  • Correction of hormonal changes in menopause: 5 mg, long-term therapy by the doctor’s decision + estrogens.
  • Adenomyoma of the uterus, endometriosis: 5 mg, from the 5th to the 15th day of the cycle or according to the second scheme: 2.5 mg, from the 5th day of the cycle, on the 2nd – 3rd week – 5 mg each (without interruption). The course lasts 6 months.
  • Prevention of lactation during abortion: with interruption at the 16th – 28th week, on the first day 15 mg, on the 2nd day – 10 mg, from 3 to 7 days – 5 mg. With an abortion after the 28th week – the 1st day – 15 mg, from the 3rd to the 7th days – 10 mg.
  • To stop lactation – 20 mg per day for three days in a row, then 15 mg for 4 days in a row, then 10 mg for 3 days.

Overdose
Overdose cases are not described. In a similar situation and subsequent possible intoxication, you should rinse the stomach, take sorbents.

Side effects
In exceptional cases, dyspeptic disorders, allergic skin rashes, breast engorgement, headaches, swelling, as a result, weight gain, less often weight loss, asthenic phenomena can be observed. With prolonged use, thrombosis, thromboembolism may develop.
