Description
Norfloxacin composition
Active ingredient: 1 ml of solution – norfloxacin 3 mg.
Excipients: sodium chloride, decamethoxin, disodium edetate (Trilon B), buffer solution (pH 4.67), purified water.
Dosage form
Eye and ear drops.
Pharmacological properties
Norfloxacin is an antimicrobial agent of the fluoroquinolone group; inhibits the activity of bacterial cell DNA-gyrases and bacterial DNA replication. Norfloxacin has a wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity against the vast majority of gram-negative microorganisms. MIC for Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Proteus spp., Citrobacter spp. is 2 mg / L or less. Less sensitive Acinetobacter spp., Providencia spp., Serratia spp .. MIC for Pseudomonas aeruginosa – less than 1 – 2 mg / l, for Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Neisseria meningitidis – less than 2 mg / l, for pathogenic strains – Salmonella and Schigella less than 1 mg / ml, for Campylobacter – less than 4 mg / ml, for staphylococci – 1 – 4 mg / ml, for streptococci – 2 – 16 mg / l. Anaerobic bacteria are insensitive to the action of the drug, Enterococcus and Acinetobacter are insensitive.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity (allergy) to norfloxacin and other fluoroquinolone drugs. Viral and fungal diseases of the eyes and ears.
Children
Do not use in children under 15 years of age.
Application during pregnancy or lactation
Not recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation.
Method of administration and dosage:
- Eye application
For adults and children over 15 years of age with acute infectious diseases of the eyes, the drug should be prescribed 1-2 drops every 15-30 minutes, and then, in accordance with a decrease in the symptomatic manifestations of the disease, reduce the frequency of instillations.
With a moderately pronounced process, prescribe 1-2 drops 2-6 times a day.
In acute and chronic trachoma, prescribe 2 drops in each eye 2-4 times a day for 1-2 months.
After the disappearance of symptoms of the disease, the use of the drug should be continued for the next 48 hours. - Application to the ears
For adults and children over 15 years of age with ear diseases, appoint 5 drops 3 times a day into the ear.
The drops should be at body temperature. Before using drops, you should sanitize the external auditory canal. The patient should lie on his side or tilt his head to facilitate instillation. After instillation, the head should be kept in this position for about 2 minutes. A cotton ball can be placed in the ear canal.
After the symptoms of the disease disappear, the use of the drug should be continued for the next 48 hours.
Overdose
There were no reports of Norfloxacin overdose in ophthalmology and otology.
If you accidentally take drops inside, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and anxiety are observed.
Treatment: if necessary, carry out symptomatic therapy; it is necessary to ensure a sufficient flow of fluid into the body, the formation of an acidic reaction of urine to prevent crystalluria.
Side effects:
- From the side of the organ of vision: a feeling of discomfort, sensation of a foreign body, edema of the eyelids, hyperemia and edema of the conjunctiva, photophobia.
- Allergic reactions, including rash, skin flushing, itching, Quincke’s edema, dermatitis.
- From the hearing organs: itching in the ear, ringing in the ears.
- Others: bad taste in the mouth.
Shelf life
2 years.
The shelf life of the solution after opening the bottle is 10 days.
Storage conditions
