Additional Information
It is important to complete the full course of treatment as prescribed by the healthcare provider to ensure the infection is completely eradicated. Avoid touching the tip of the dropper to prevent contamination of the solution.
Pharmacological Effects: Levofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase, thereby disrupting DNA replication and leading to bacterial cell death. This mechanism of action makes it effective against a wide range of bacteria.
Clinical Trials: In a comparative study by Johnson et al. (2018), levofloxacin eye drops showed similar efficacy to other fluoroquinolones in the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis, with a favorable safety profile and rapid symptom relief.
