Properties
OFTAmil is an ophthalmic antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and moisturizer.
Chamomile aqueous extract. The action of chamomile is due to a complex of substances contained in it (chamazulen, mitricin, apigenin, apiin and herniarin) and exhibits a pronounced anti-inflammatory, soothing and refreshing effect, enhances regenerative processes, weakens allergic reactions, has a moderate antispasmodic effect and is therefore prescribed to reduce the severity of pain with hyperemia of the mucous membrane of the eyes caused by atmospheric agents and environmental factors. Due to the presence of flavonoids (quercitin, luteolin and aigenin), chamomile has antibacterial and antiviral properties.
Aloe vera water extract – an immunostimulating agent, has a moisturizing, regenerating and bacteriostatic effect, stimulates metabolism in cells and tissue regeneration in case of eye diseases.
Aqueous extract of common rose hips contains ascorbic acid, vitamins E, B, K, P, carotene, iron, calcium, potassium salts, phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, essential oil, lycopene. Vitamins B2 and B1 help in the synthesis of visual purpura and play a role in the formation of the yellow enzyme.
Aqueous extract of blueberries. The blueberry extract contains anthocyanins (mainly myrtilin and neomyrtilin), polyphenols, flavonoids (hyperin, astrogalin, quercetin, isoquercetin, rutin), organic acids (citric, malic, lactic, oxalic, succinic, quinic), triterpenoids) (urs micro and macro elements.
Glucoside myrtilin has a capillary-protective and antioxidant effect, improves the rheological properties of the cell membrane, accelerates the regeneration of rhodopsin (a light-sensitive pigment of the retina responsible for sensitivity and “adaptation” to changes in the intensity (brightness) of light), improves microcirculation, which leads to a decrease in eye fatigue and strain (reading, working at a computer, etc.), improving visual acuity in the dark, reducing the risk of diabetic retinopathy and cataracts. Blueberries have been shown to naturally accelerate the renewal of light-sensitive retinas.
Hypromellose is a polymer with muco-myetic properties that can stabilize the tear film on the surface of the cornea by creating a protective, transparent and elastic shield.
Sodium hyaluronate is a molecule that is naturally found in the human body, where there is a need for constant hydration (cartilage, skin, tear film), therefore it is biologically compatible. It is used to moisturize, counteract dry eyes and create a film that protects the corneal endothelium from external agents and free radical damage.
Together with hypromellose, it provides long-term and intense hydration of the eye surface.
Solutions containing sodium hyaluronate create a favorable microenvironment for re-epithelialization processes, restoration of the ocular surface in cases of damage to the cornea and conjunctiva.
Boric acid has an antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, anti-pediculosis, astringent, fungistatic effect; it is used as an antiseptic for conjunctivitis.
Indications for use
OFTAmil is recommended for use in complex or complementary therapy for:
- diseases of the anterior surface of the eye (conjunctivitis, blepharitis, keratitis, keratouveitis) as a bacteriostatic and anti-inflammatory agent;
- retinopathy and uveopathy (due to capillaroprotective, regenerative and antioxidant effects);
- in the postoperative period as an antiseptic;
- dry eye syndrome, computer syndrome (due to moisturizing, stabilizing and antioxidant effects);
- the use of contact lenses and in orthokeratology;
to increase the bioavailability of antiglaucomatous and anti-inflammatory drugs; - for washing eyes after exposure to environmental factors, hyperinsolation, sea salt and water, etc.;
- for washing the eyes in the complex treatment of acute respiratory diseases of the upper respiratory tract (as an anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory agent).
Children
There are no age restrictions if the drug is prescribed by a doctor.
Mode of application
1 – 2 drops in each eye 3 – 4 times a day.
Vision may be temporarily blurred when OFTAmil is first used.
In addition, minor eye burning / irritation may occur temporarily. If any of these effects persist or worsen, a doctor should be consulted.
The gradual emptying of the vial may necessitate the application of higher pressure to the sides to allow product to escape. This is due to the properties of the vial closure system to maintain the sterility and physicochemical properties of preservative-free solutions.
Contraindications
Individual hypersensitivity to product components.
