Omenax is an effective antiulcer drug. It is used for the treatment of erosive-ulcerative colitis, gastric and duodenal ulcers of various origins, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, prevention of exacerbations of gastroesophageal reflux, systemic mastocytosis, in the complex treatment of Helicobacter pylori eradication.
Description
Omenax composition and form of release
The main active ingredient is omeprazole, it also contains auxiliary substances. It is produced in the form of capsules, as well as in the form of a lyophilisate powder for preparing a solution for infusion (dosage – 40 milligrams).
Pharmacological properties
Omenax is a proton pump inhibitor. The drug is concentrated in the secretory tubules of the parietal cells of the inner lining of the stomach. In an acidic environment, it is activated, inhibits the enzyme H +, K + -ATPase (proton pump), affecting the last stage of the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach.

Omenax, a drug belonging to the group of proton pump inhibitors. Its active ingredient, omeprazole, has the property of inhibiting both stimulated and basal secretion of hydrochloric acid. With oral administration, the effect of the drug occurs after about 60 minutes and lasts about 24 hours. After the patient stops taking the drug, the secretory activity of the exocrine glands of the stomach restores its activity after a few days.
Contraindications
It is not used in case of hypersensitivity reactions to the active or auxiliary substances that make up this pharmaceutical product. Its combined use with nelfinavir is prohibited.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
There were no negative effects on the fetus during its intake by pregnant women, therefore, taking Omez during this period is permissible according to indications and as directed by a doctor. However, lactation should be canceled because it passes into breast milk.
Method of administration and dosage
When administered intravenously for peptic ulcer disease and reflux, the drug is administered drip, at the rate of 40 mg per day. Treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome starts with higher doses – 60 or more mg (infusion or in capsules), it is administered in two stages. Then a maintenance dose of 20 to 120 mg is prescribed, as decided by the doctor.
For ulcers accompanied by bleeding, the dosage of the infusion solution reaches 80 milligrams, while it is administered at a rate of 8 mg per hour.
After stopping bleeding and the ability to take the drug orally, the dose is 20 mg per day. The usual course duration is 2 weeks, or until the ulcer is completely healed. The average period of scarring of peptic ulcers when taking 40 mg. per day occurs within 4 weeks, and the cure for erosive reflux esophagitis – within 8 weeks of treatment with Omez.
Overdose
Overdose was rarely recorded. Isolated cases of excessive intake (up to 2400 mg at a time) caused nausea and vomiting, intoxication was removed by gastric lavage and intake of sorbents.
The 160 mg dose did not lead to intoxication or other negative effects.
Side effects
The nervous system can react with dizziness, excessive sweating, headache, agitation, paresthesia, hallucinations. The gastrointestinal tract can respond with dyspeptic disorders. An allergic reaction in the form of skin irritation is possible. Swelling may occur.
Storage conditions and periods
Omenax is stored for up to 3 years at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
