Omnik composition
Main active ingredient: tamsulosin hydrochloride.
Auxiliary components: cellulose, methacrylate copolymer, hypromellose, propylene glycol, talc, magnesium stearate, sodium lauryl sulfate, gelatin, etc.

Release form
Produced and marketed in capsules containing 0.4 mg of tamsulosin hydrochloride.

Pharmacological properties
This pharmaceutical product Omnik belongs to a group of drugs that are used to treat prostate diseases (benign hyperplasia).
The main active ingredient of the drug is tamsulosin. It is a selective and competitive blocker of postsynaptic alpha-1 – adrenergic receptors, which are located inside the smooth muscles of the prostate. They are also found in the bladder neck, the part of the urethra that is part of the prostate.
As a result, the tone of smooth muscles in the prostate, neck in the bladder, urethra decreases, and urine outflow improves.
The symptoms caused by prostatic hyperplasia are reduced – the urge to urinate, including at night, the difficulty of this process, irritation and inflammation.
In addition, taking the drug helps to normalize blood pressure towards its decrease due to the effect on the tone of peripheral vessels.

Indications
Omnik is used in the treatment of functional disorders of the lower urinary tract that accompany benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Contraindications
The drug in question is contraindicated for use in cases where the patient has severe hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or to one of the auxiliary components.
Also contraindicated for:

  • orthostatic hypotension;
  • severe renal failure.

In case of simultaneous use with any other drugs, you should inform your doctor about it.

Children
Not used in pediatrics. The safety and efficacy of using the drug for children under 18 years of age have not been established, therefore, the drug can be prescribed to this category of patients only after a thorough assessment of the risk / benefit ratio (as prescribed by a doctor).

Application during pregnancy and lactation
This drug is not intended for use in women.

Method of administration and dosage
Omnik is administered orally. The recommended dose is 1 capsule per day.
The drug is usually taken after the first morning meal.
Do not break or bite the capsule – this will complicate the release of the main active ingredient.
Patients suffering from renal insufficiency need dosage adjustment.
Elderly patients or with hepatic impairment do not need dosage adjustment.
The duration of the treatment process depends on the course of the disease, the individual response of the patient’s body to the drug.
The patient should consult a doctor if the symptoms of the disease did not disappear during the use of the drug or if adverse reactions are observed that are not indicated in the instructions for medical use of the drug.

Overdose
In case of an overdose of tamsulosin hydrochloride, a drop in blood pressure may occur.
In severe cases, therapy with intravenous infusion of vasopressors is necessary, which is carried out in a stationary setting.
Recommended gastric lavage, intake of enterosorbents, sodium sulfate.
Hemodialysis is ineffective.

Side effects
The use of the drug can cause side effects such as:

  • heart rhythm disturbances, tachycardia, decreased blood pressure, myocardial infarction;
  • visual impairment;
  • nosebleeds, rhinitis;
  • constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting;
  • rash, pruritus, allergic urticaria, erythema multiforme;
  • ejaculation disorders;
  • asthenia;
  • a sharp constriction of the pupil.

Storage conditions and periods
The shelf life is up to 3 years.
The storage temperature should not exceed 25 ° C.
