Treatment of infections caused by cephalexin-sensitive microorganisms: respiratory tract infection; otitis media; skin and soft tissue infections; bone and joint infections; urogenital infections, including acute prostatitis; dental infections.
Description
Ospexin composition
5 ml of suspension contains 125 mg of cephalexin, sodium benzoate, sodium saccharin, sucrose.
Release form
The antibiotic is produced in the form of special yellow granules for preparing a suspension (60 ml) of 0.33 g in a bottle, complete with a measuring spoon. The package contains 1 bottle.
Pharmacological properties
Ospexin is a 1st generation antibiotic from the cephalosporin group. The leading component of the drug is cephalexin. Reception of cephalexin is carried out by a purely oral method (inside). Differs in a wide range of effects on many pathogenic microorganisms.
Staphylococci, pneumococci, corynobacteria that cause diphtheria, meningococci, gonococci, shigella, salmonella, and Escherichia coli are especially vulnerable to its action. This antibiotic is ineffective when infected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus, treponemes and Koch’s bacillus, the causative agent of tuberculosis. The drug purposefully destroys metabolic processes in the cells of the wall of the microorganism, which leads to irreversible changes in the structure of the cell membrane, and to the death of the bacteria.
The product is characterized by high permeability to all organs, fluids, and tissues of the body. The drug is excreted through the kidneys.
Indications for use
The indications for taking Ospexin are: bronchitis (acute and chronic); sinusitis; pharyngitis; tracheitis; tonsillitis; pneumonia (chronic and acute); otitis media; lung abscess; pyelonephritis; prostatitis; urethritis; cystitis; endometritis; gonorrhea; vulvitis; infections of soft tissues and skin; inflammation of the joints and bone tissue.
Contraindications
Drug therapy is contraindicated in the presence of increased sensitivity to antibiotics of the cephalosporin group. With caution, the drug should be prescribed in the presence of individual sensitivity to penicillins, as well as in patients with impaired renal function.
Children
It is used in pediatrics.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding period
Since cephalexin has the ability to penetrate into breast milk and through the blood-placental barrier, prescribing a drug during this period is undesirable, although it does not have mutagenic and teratogenic properties.
Mode of application
Ospexin Suspension is taken with or without food. First, half of the drinking water should be poured into the bottle with granules. Then shake well and add more water to the mark on the bottle. Shake the medicine bottle before use.
Adults, depending on the severity of the disease, are prescribed from 1 to 4 g of opexin per day. This dosage should be divided by 3-4 times during the day.
In inflammatory processes caused by bacteria weakly sensitive to cephalexin, the daily dose should be increased to 4-6 g.
For children, the usual dosage is 25-50 mg / kg of body weight, which is taken in 3-4 doses.
- Children under 1 year old – 5 ml (one measuring spoon) of the drug with a dosage of 125 mg 4 times a day or half a measuring spoon of the drug with a dosage of 250 mg 4 times a day.
- Children aged 1 to 3 years are prescribed 1 spoon of suspension, dosage 250 mg, 3 times a day.
- Children from 3 to 6 years old – one and a half scoops of suspension, dosage 250 mg, 3 times a day.
- For children from 6 years to 10, 2 scoops of the drug are prescribed, with a dosage of 250 mg, 3 times a day.
Overdose
If the prescribed doses are exceeded, it is possible to develop such phenomena as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pain in the gastrointestinal tract.
In this case, the intake of absorbents will be effective.
Adverse reactions
During drug therapy, undesirable manifestations in the form of skin rashes, swelling, pain in the gastrointestinal tract, nausea, vomiting, stool disorders, changes in blood counts, tremors, seizures, headache, dizziness, weakness, irritability, nephritis are possible.
