Description
Pagamax composition
As part of one capsule, the active ingredient is pregabalin 150 mg, as additional ones are indicated: corn starch, lactose, talc, titanium dioxide, colloidal silicon dioxide, iron oxide red, gelatin, purified water.
Release form
The drug is produced in the form of hard gelatin capsules, inside of which there is a white or almost white powder. Capsules 150 mg have a matte cap and a white body marked “150”.
Pharmacological properties
Pagamax capsules are antiepileptic drugs that have analgesic and anticonvulsant effects.
Indications for use
Pagamax is prescribed and used to treat neuropathic pain, epilepsy, generalized anxiety disorders, and fibromyalgia.
Contraindications
The drug has a small number of contraindications, with the exception of individual intolerance to the components and age up to 18 years.
Children
It is not used in pediatrics.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
The drug is not used during pregnancy, except when the benefits to the pregnant woman are higher than the possible risk to the fetus. While taking the drug, breastfeeding should be stopped.
Method of administration and dosage:
- For neuropathic pain and epilepsy, treatment with the drug should be started with 150 mg per day, this dose should be divided into several doses (2 or 3). After 3-7 days of using the drug, the dose can be increased to 300 mg per day, after another week, if there is such a need, the dose is increased to the maximum dose of 600 mg.
- In generalized anxiety disorders, fibromyalgia, drug treatment should be started with 150 mg per day, this dose should be divided into several doses (2 or 3). After 3-7 days of using the drug, the dose can be increased to 300 mg per day, a week later to 450 mg per day, and after another week, if necessary, the dose is increased to the maximum dose of 600 mg.
- Treatment with the drug for patients with renal insufficiency should be carried out individually, in accordance with the level of creatinine clearance. If creatinine clearance is ≥ 60 (ml / min), then the initial dose is 150 mg per day, and the maximum dose is 600 mg. With creatinine clearance ≥ 30- <60 (ml / min), in this case, the initial dose is 75 mg per day, and the limiting dose is 300 mg. With creatinine clearance ≥ 15- <30 (ml / min), in this case, the initial dose is 25-50 mg per day, and the limiting dose is 150 mg. With creatinine clearance <15 (ml / min), in this case, the initial dose is 25 mg per day, and the limiting dose is 75 mg. After hemodialysis, the initial dose is 25 mg per day, and the limiting dose is 100 mg.
It is necessary to stop treatment with the drug gradually for at least 7 days. The dose range can range from 150 mg to 600 mg per day, which are divided into 2 or 3 doses. The use of the drug is carried out regardless of food intake.
Overdose
Symptoms of drug overdose are: drowsiness, affective disorders, confusion, agitation, depression, anxiety. As a therapy, in this case, gastric lavage is performed, treatment is carried out to maintain the body and, if there is such a need, hemodialysis.
Side effects
The use of the drug can cause a large number of negative reactions, the most common side effects: dizziness, increased appetite, drowsiness, euphoria, irritability, confusion and disorientation, ataxia, insomnia, impaired attention and coordination, diplopia, trembling, memory impairment and articulation disorder, lethargy , paresthesia and blurred vision. Also dry mouth and eyes, flatulence, vomiting, constipation, erectile dysfunction, decreased or increased libido, fatigue, thirst, peripheral edema, gait disturbance and drunkenness, increase and decrease in body weight.
In rare cases, taking the drug causes anorexia, depersonalization, hypoglycemia, anorgasmia, agitation, difficulty in finding words, anxiety and depression, hallucinations and unusual dreams, apathy, panic attacks, cognitive disorders, nystagmus, hypesthesia, speech impairment, hyporeflexia and dyskinesia, … Also psychomotor hyperactivity, loss of taste, hyperesthesia, burning sensation of mucous membranes and skin, fainting, stupor, intentional tremors, eye pain, decreased visual acuity, asthenopia, increased lacrimation, eyelid swelling, hyperacusis (increased sensitivity to sounds). When using the drug, the following side reactions are possible: tachycardia, hypotension, facial flushing and flushing, hypertension, dry nasal mucosa, shortness of breath, gastroesophageal reflux, salivary hypersecretion and hypoesthesia of the oral cavity, hyperhidrosis, bloating, papule stiffness and muscle twitching, myalgia, joint swelling, arthralgia. Also, back and limb pain, urinary incontinence and dysuria, delayed ejaculation, asthenia, sexual dysfunction, thrombocytopenia, feeling cold, increased levels of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and creatine phosphokinase.
Storage conditions and periods
The drug Pagamax must be stored in its original packaging, protected from children, the storage temperature should not exceed +25 ° C.
The maximum shelf life is 2 years.
