Panadol Baby is an anesthetic and antipyretic medicine. Blocks the enzyme cyclooxygenase in the brain, affecting the centers of pain, thermoregulation. It is used in children from 3 months to 12 years as: anesthetic – for ear pain, teething, sore throat, headache; antipyretic agent – to reduce elevated body temperature in childhood infections (measles, rubella, chicken pox, mumps, scarlet fever, etc.), colds, flu.

Panadol Baby composition and form of release
Active ingredient: paracetamol.
It is produced in the form of a suspension for oral administration (120 mg).

Children’s Panadol does not contain alcohol, sugar, acetylsalicylic acid.
Indications
Panadol Baby is an anesthetic and antipyretic medicine. Blocks the enzyme cyclooxygenase in the brain, affecting the centers of pain, thermoregulation.
It is used in children from 3 months to 12 years as:
- anesthetic – for ear pain, teething, sore throat, headache;
- antipyretic agent – to reduce elevated body temperature in childhood infections (measles, rubella, chicken pox, mumps, scarlet fever, etc.), colds, flu.
For children of the second or third month of life, a single dose of the medicine to lower the temperature after vaccination is possible.
Contraindications:
- if you are allergic to paracetamol, other components of the suspension;
- during the neonatal period;
- with severe impairment of liver / kidney function.
It should be used with caution in the case of a genetic deficiency of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, impaired liver / kidney function, Gilbert’s syndrome, severe blood diseases (anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia).
Children
It is used in children from 3 months to 12 years.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Only as directed by a physician.
Method of administration and dosage
Panadol Baby is intended for oral administration (by mouth).
Before use, the contents of the bottle must be shaken well. A measuring syringe is included in the package, which allows you to rationally and correctly dose the medicine.
The dose depends on the age and body weight of the child. For children older than 3 months, a single dose is indicated – 15 mg / kg x 3-4 times / day, the maximum daily dose is 60 mg / kg. If necessary, the recommended dose can be given every 4–6 hours, but no more than 4 doses within 24 hours.
In all other cases, a doctor’s consultation is necessary before taking the medicine.
Permissible duration of admission without consulting a doctor: to lower the temperature – no more than 3 days; for pain relief – no more than 5 days.
Do not exceed the recommended dose. In the absence of a therapeutic effect, a doctor’s consultation is mandatory.
Overdose
Signs of acute poisoning are pain in the stomach, nausea, sweating, vomiting, pale skin. After a few days, there are signs of liver damage (increased activity of liver enzymes, pain in the liver). In severe cases, liver failure, encephalopathy, and coma develop. With prolonged use in excess of the recommended dose, nephrotoxic, hepatotoxic effects (nonspecific bacteriuria, renal colic, papillary necrosis, interstitial nephritis) may occur.
Overdose treatment: stop using the drug, immediately seek medical help.
Gastric lavage and intake of enterosorbents are recommended. Acetylcysteine is a specific antidote for paracetamol poisoning.
In case of accidental overdose, see a doctor immediately, even if the child is feeling well.
Side effects
At the recommended doses, paracetamol usually has no side effects. Sometimes nausea, pain in the stomach, allergic manifestations (skin rash, urticaria, itching, Quincke’s edema), changes in the blood test (anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia) are possible.
Storage conditions and periods
Temperature storage conditions: not higher than 30 ° С. Don’t freeze. Expiration date – 3 years. Parents should make sure that the medicine is not available to children.
