Peony tincture composition
active substance: tinctures of equal ratios of peony, rhizomes and roots of peony (1:10) (Paeoniae anomalae herba – Paeoniae anomalae rhizomata et radices 1: 1), (extractant – ethanol 40%) – 50 ml;
Excipients: except for the extractant, no.

Dosage form
Tincture.

Main physical and chemical properties: light brown liquid, bitter astringent taste, peculiar smell. During storage, precipitation is allowed.

Pharmacological properties
Grass, rhizomes and roots of peony contain phenols, tannins, organic acids. Peony tincture has antispasmodic, anticonvulsant properties and the ability to increase gastric acidity and the body’s resistance to hypoxia.

Indication
Functional disorders of the central nervous system (neurocirculatory dystonia of the hypertensive type, neurotic states).

Contraindication
Hypotension. Individual hypersensitivity to biologically active substances contained in medicinal plant raw materials.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction
The drug can potentiate the action of sedatives and hypnotics, tranquilizers, neuroleptics, antidepressants with sedative effects, as well as enhances the effects of alcohol.

With long-term use of large doses of the drug it is necessary to control gastric acidity in patients with a tendency to increase it.

It is not recommended to use the drug for a long time due to the ethanol content.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
It is contraindicated to use the drug during pregnancy (acts abortively) or breastfeeding.

Ability to influence the speed of reaction when driving a car or other machinery
During the treatment of “Peony tincture” the patient should refrain from driving and performing other work that requires increased attention, speed of mental and motor reactions.

Method of application and dosage
Take peony tincture inside 10-15 minutes before eating, pre-dissolved in a small amount of water. Adults should be prescribed 15-20 drops of tincture 2-3 times a day. The duration of treatment is determined by the physician individually for each patient, taking into account the nature, severity and characteristics of the disease, the stability of the achieved therapeutic effect and tolerability of the drug.
The recommended duration of treatment is 2 weeks, if necessary, the course of treatment can be repeated after a break (after 2-3 months).
The patient should consult a doctor if the symptoms of the disease have not disappeared during the use of the drug or any side effects are observed.

Children
There is no experience of using the drug in children, so it is not recommended for use in pediatric practice.

Overdose
At excess of the recommended doses drowsiness, decrease in arterial pressure, dizziness are observed.
