Description
Permetrin composition
active substance: permethrin;
1 g of the medicinal product contains 5 mg of permethrin; excipients: etonium, benzalkonium chloride, ethanol (96%), purified water.

Cutaneous solution.
Pharmacological properties
An insecticidal contact agent, which belongs to the group of synthetic pyrethroids. Has pediculicidal action, adversely affects nits, larvae and sexually mature forms of head and pubic lice. Violates the permeability of the sodium channels of the membranes of insect nerve cells, inhibits the process of polarization (repolarization) of the nerve cell, which leads to a paralyzing effect.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Permetrin and to excipients of the drug.
Violations of the integrity of the skin, inflammation and secondary skin infections. The period of pregnancy or lactation. Children under 3 years old.
It is not recommended to use in patients with bronchial asthma, obstructive bronchitis, including in history, due to the risk of bronchospasm when inhaling the drug.
Special security measures
Medical personnel working with Permetrin must wear protective gloves. The drug should be used externally only.
Carry out processing in a well-ventilated area or outdoors. When processing, avoid contact with the drug on the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose, oral cavity, urogenital organs. In case of accidental contact with mucous membranes, the latter should be rinsed with plenty of water, after treatment, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water and rinse your mouth with running water.
To prevent re-infection, the whole family must be checked for pathogens, disinfected clothes, hats, scarves, bedding, combs and treated hair in people who have been in contact with the patient.
Children
Do not use in children under 3 years of age.
Application during pregnancy or lactation
Studies regarding the safety of use during pregnancy or lactation have not been carried out, that is, the drug should not be used during this period.
Method of administration and dosage
Outwardly.
- In case of head lice, it is good to moisten the hair with the solution using a cotton swab, rubbing the drug into the hair roots. After treatment, leave Permetrin on the hair for 10-40 minutes (you can cover your head with a handkerchief), then rinse thoroughly with warm running water and soap or shampoo and dry naturally. After washing, comb the hair with a thick comb to remove dead parasites; if live lice are found, repeat the treatment before the next hair wash or after 7 days. Permethrin consumption, depending on the thickness and length of the hair, is from 10 ml to 60 ml.
- With pubic lice, moisten the hairy part of the pubic area with plenty of undiluted solution using a cotton swab. After 30 minutes, wash the treated areas with soap and water and rinse thoroughly.
Overdose
In case of an overdose, the symptoms indicated in the “Side effects” section may increase. In case of an overdose, it is necessary to stop using the drug, rinse the skin with plenty of warm water, it is also possible to use antihistamines. In case of poisoning by inhalation of vapors, treatment should begin with removing the patient to fresh air. In case of contact with eyes or skin, the affected area should be rinsed with plenty of water.
In case of accidental use of the drug inside, there is a high probability of spontaneous vomiting, therefore, further administration of emetics is not recommended due to the risk of rapid development of seizures and coma. The absorption of the drug can be prevented by washing the stomach and taking activated charcoal or a laxative. Treatment is primarily supportive and includes monitoring the patient for allergic reactions.
Side effects:
- From the immune system: allergic reactions, including skin rashes and edema.
- Local effects: burning, tingling or tingling sensation, skin numbness, increased itching, erythema, pain, eczema.
