Picovit syrup is mainly intended for children: with reduced appetite; at physical and mental overloads at school children; with a lag in development; as an adjunct to antibiotic treatment with a seasonal shortage of fruits and vegetables in the diet.
Description
Picovit Composition and form of release
The drug is produced in syrup. The drug contains the following active substances: retinol palmitate, colecalciferol, riboflavin sodium phosphate, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), thiamine hydrochloride (vitamin B1), cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12), ascorbic acid (vitamin C), nicotinamide (vitamin PP) (D-panthenol), dexpanthenol .
Indications
Picovit is used as a prophylactic agent in conditions that are associated with an increased need for vitamins, such as:
- systematic overwork of the child at school;
- increased neuropsychic and physical stress;
- decreased appetite or monotonous and inadequate nutrition;
- the period of rehabilitation after illness;
- decrease in the body’s defenses;
- increased susceptibility to infectious diseases.
Picovit can be used as part of a complex therapy when a child is receiving chemotherapy treatment.
Contraindications
The pre-drug is not prescribed for the treatment of children who have been diagnosed with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug or hypervitaminosis D or A. The drug in the form of a syrup is not used to treat children who suffer from diabetes, since 5 ml of the drug contains 3 grams of sugar.
Children
The drug is used in pediatrics, depending on age. Children from 1-3 years old in the form of syrup, children from 4 years old in the form of chewable tablets.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Pikovit is not used to treat nursing or pregnant women.
Method of administration and dosage
Children from 1 to 3 years old take Picovit orally in the form of a syrup, 5 ml 2 r / d, from 4 to 6 years – 5 ml of syrup 3 r / d, from 7 to 14 years old – 5 ml of syrup from 3 to 4 r / d. The syrup can be taken alone or with juice, fruit puree, or tea. The duration of therapy and the need for a second course of treatment is determined by the doctor.
Overdose
To date, no cases of overdose of Picovit have been reported.
Side effects
When taken, it is possible to develop various allergic reactions, accompanied by a rash, itchy skin and hives. If a child has any unwanted reactions when using the drug, you should immediately seek help from a doctor.
When taking Pikovit, it is possible to stain urine in a rich yellow color – this phenomenon is absolutely safe and does not require discontinuation of the drug.
Storage conditions and periods
Store in a place not accessible to children and protected from light. The shelf life is 2 years. Be aware that taking expired medications can cause significant harm to your child’s health.
