Description

Pimafucin composition and form of release
The active ingredient is natamycin. It is produced in the form of vaginal suppositories, which is intended for topical use.

Pharmacological properties
Natamycin is a fungicidal agent. It irreversibly binds to steroids of the cell membrane, contributing to the dysfunction and integrity of the latter, thus destroying microorganisms. A large number of yeast fungi, yeast-like organisms, dermatophytes and fungi are sensitive to natamycin. The average minimum fungicidal concentration (MFC) is 1-10 μg / ml for most microorganisms, including strains of Candida albicans, the most common pathogen that causes fungal infections. Natamycin is inactive against bacteria. In clinical practice, there have been no cases of primary resistance of yeast, fungi and yeast-like microorganisms.

The use of Pimafucin suppositories is more effective as part of the complex treatment of systemic fungal infections, together with its tablet form.
It is a polyene antibiotic, acting fungicidal, binding sterols of cell membranes, disrupting their integrity, which causes the death of microorganisms. Does not cause resistance or systemic allergy, does not have a sensitizing effect.
Pimafucin is distinguished by its ability to provide a therapeutic effect even with vaginal discharge, inflammation and itching, including the least accessible upper vagina.
