Pharmacological properties
This medicinal product Plantagliucid belongs to a group of drugs used in the treatment of certain diseases of the digestive tract and affecting metabolism.
The active active ingredient of the drug is plantaglucid. Refers to drugs for the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases that are acid-dependent.
The plantaglucid substance is of plant origin, and is produced from the extract of “plantain”. Thanks to its active ingredients, it has medicinal properties.
The mechanism of action is explained by the presence in the preparation of a large amount of a mixture of polysaccharides (high molecular weight carbohydrates), which have the property of forming monosaccharides and oligosaccharides in the process of hydrolysis.
Plantaglucid has the ability to enhance the secretion of gastric juices, while increasing the acidity of the secreted substance.
In general, it also has anti-inflammatory, astringent and antiseptic effects.
Indications
This Plantagliucid drug is used to treat:
- hypoacid gastritis (and prevention of relapse);
- digestive disorders caused by low acidity of gastric juice.
Contraindications
The drug in question is contraindicated for use in cases where the patient has severe hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or one of the auxiliary components.
Also contraindicated for:
- hyperacid gastritis (high acidity);
- peptic ulcer and 12 duodenal ulcer;
- reflux esophagitis.
For those suffering from diabetes mellitus, it is important to take into account that 1 sachet of the drug contains 1 gram of refined sugar.
Children
In pediatrics, it is not used until the age of 3 years.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
This drug is contraindicated for pregnant women and during lactation due to its high toxicity.
Method of administration and dosage
Plantagliucid is administered orally.
It is consumed 20 or 30 minutes before meals. Previously, the contents of the sachet should be dissolved in 0.25 cups of warm water.
Recommended dosages:
- adults and children over 12 years old – take one packet 2-3 times a day;
- children from 6 to 12 years old – half the package 2-3 times a day;
- the duration of treatment for an attack of gastritis is three to four weeks.
For the prevention of relapses, the drug is used in the same dosages 1-2 times a day for 1-2 months.
Overdose
Overdose can cause increased side effects.
In case of an overdose, you should immediately stop using the drug and treat the symptoms.
In case of excessive overdose, you should immediately rinse the stomach, take enterosorbents.
Side effects
Usually the drug is well tolerated and does not cause side effects.
In rare cases, the use of this drug may cause adverse reactions, in particular:

- nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, angioedema;
- peripheral edema, shortness of breath, headache;
