Treatment of vaginitis caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug, including: bacterial vaginitis caused by banal pyogenic microflora; recurrent non-specific vaginitis; vaginitis caused by fungi of the genus Candida (Candida albicans and Candida non-albicans); vaginitis caused by a mixed infection. In order to prevent infectious complications, Polygynax is recommended to be used before any surgical intervention on the genitals, before abortion, the installation of an intrauterine device, before and after diathermocoagulation of the cervix, before intrauterine and intraurethral examinations, before childbirth.
Description
Polygynax Composition and release form
The dosage form is vaginal capsules. The active substances are nystatin, polymyxin B sulfate, neomycin sulfate.
Indications
Polygynax in vaginal capsules is used to treat the following infectious and inflammatory diseases:
- vulvovaginitis;
- cervicovaginitis;
- flexible vaginitis;
- nonspecific vaginitis;
- mixed vaginitis.
Also, Polygynax can be used to prevent the development of infectious complications in:
- conducting intrauterine diagnostic procedures;
- before and after diathermocoagulation of the uterine neck;
- before performing a surgical gynecological intervention;
- before childbirth.
Contraindications
It is strictly forbidden to use the drug in the first trimester of pregnancy, during lactation and intolerance to the components of the drug. Polygynax can be used in the treatment of women in the II and III trimesters of pregnancy. The drug can be used for treatment or prophylaxis only as directed by the doctor and after a balance of benefits and risks.
When using Polygynax, it must be remembered that it is able to block the action of local contraceptives, which can lead to unwanted pregnancy. In addition, when using vaginal capsules, remember that its use increases the risk of damage to the latex condom.
If symptoms of intolerance occur while using the drug, it is recommended to stop treatment immediately. Increased sensitivity to the drug may indicate that Polygynax, as well as antibacterial drugs of a similar group, are undesirable to use in the treatment of this disease.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Polygynax is not prescribed for women who are in the first trimester of pregnancy. The use of the drug is permissible in the II and III trimesters of pregnancy, but only if the intended benefits from its use significantly outweigh the possible risk to the fetus.
If it is impossible to do without prescribing the drug in the therapy of nursing, then the woman should refuse lactation.
Method of administration and dosage
Polygynax is used for intravaginal administration. The capsules are recommended to be injected deeply intravaginally in the supine position, 1 capsule once a day before going to bed. Duration of treatment is 12 days. For prophylactic purposes, the drug is taken no more than 6 days.
Overdose
No cases of drug overdose have been reported.
Side effects
When using vaginal capsules, patients may develop local allergic reactions, manifested by itching, burning, hyperemia of the vaginal mucosa. Development of allergic contact erythema is also possible. With prolonged treatment with Polygynax, patients may experience side effects characteristic of aminoglycosides.
Storage conditions and periods
The drug can be stored in places that are not accessible to children and protected from moisture penetration. The shelf life is two years.
