Scientific Evidence

Prilamid combines the ACE inhibitor perindopril with the diuretic indapamide to provide a dual mechanism of action in lowering blood pressure. Perindopril works by inhibiting the angiotensin-converting enzyme, leading to vasodilation and reduced aldosterone secretion. Indapamide, a thiazide-like diuretic, promotes diuresis and vasodilation. Clinical studies have shown that the combination of perindopril and indapamide is more effective in reducing blood pressure compared to either drug alone.

Additional Information

Prilamid tablets should be stored at room temperature away from moisture and heat. It is important to regularly monitor blood pressure while taking this medication. Inform your doctor about any other medications or supplements you are taking to avoid interactions.

Pharmacological Effects: The combination of perindopril and indapamide helps to lower blood pressure by reducing peripheral resistance and promoting diuresis. This dual action is beneficial in managing hypertension and reducing the risk of cardiovascular events.

Clinical Trials: Clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of Prilamid in lowering blood pressure and improving cardiovascular outcomes. A study by Williams et al. (2016) showed a significant reduction in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure with the combination therapy of perindopril and indapamide compared to monotherapy.
