Description
Procto-Glivenol Composition
active substances: tribenoside, lidocaine hydrochloride;
100 g of cream contains 5 g of tribenoside, 2 g of lidocaine hydrochloride;
Excipients: polyethylene glycol cetostearyl ether, cetyl alcohol, isopropyl palmitate, mineral oil, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 216), sorbitol solution (E 420), stearic acid, sorbitan stearate.
Dosage form
Rectal cream.
Pharmacological properties
Procto-Glivenol is a combination drug for the local treatment of external and internal hemorrhoids.
Tribenoside reduces the permeability of capillaries, improves microcirculation, increases vascular tone, has anti-inflammatory properties. The antagonistic effect of the drug is aimed at some endogenous substances that play a role in mediating the development of inflammation and pain.
Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that relieves itching, burning and pain caused by hemorrhoids.
Indication
Local treatment of external and internal hemorrhoids.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to any component of the drug, including amide local anesthetics.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
The drug should not be used during the first trimester of pregnancy.
Procto-Glivenol can be used from the 4th month of pregnancy and breastfeeding women, in compliance with the recommended dosage, taking into account the possible risk for both mother and child.
Method of application and dosage
Apply rectally to adults.
Apply one application in the morning, the second – in the evening until the disappearance of acute symptoms. After that, the dose can be reduced to 1 application per day. The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor depending on the severity of the disease.
For internal hemorrhoids, apply the cream with a nozzle, which is enclosed separately in the package and screwed onto the tube. The nozzle is covered with a protective cover, which must be removed before each application of the cream.
30 g of cream (1 tube) is enough for about 20-30 applications.
Children
Do not use in children, as there are no data on the use of the drug in this age group.
Overdose
There are no data on drug overdose.
In case of accidental ingestion, gastric lavage should be performed quickly. Treatment should be symptomatic with general supportive measures.
Side effects:
- From the skin and subcutaneous tissue: in the area of injection discomfort, pain, slight burning, rash, itching and urticaria, contact dermatitis.
- From the immune system: possible hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylactic reactions, angioneurotic edema, facial edema, bronchospasm.
- From the cardiovascular system: cardiovascular disorders, fever, hemorrhoidal hemorrhages.
Due to the fact that lidocaine is rapidly absorbed from the mucous membrane, systemic effects are possible.
