Pulmicort contains a powerful non-halogenated corticosteroid-budesonide, intended for the treatment of bronchial asthma in patients for whom the use of inhalers with the spray of medicinal substances with compressed air or in the form of a medicinal form of dry powder is ineffective or impractical. Pulmicort is also recommended for use in infants and children with croup (a complication of acute upper respiratory viral infection, also known as laryngotracheobronchitis or sublingular laryngitis), which is an indication for hospitalization.

Pulmicort Turbuchaler Composition and form of release
Active ingredient: budesonid (100 mcg / dose).
Pulmicort Turbuhaler is produced in the form of a powder for inhalation.
Pharmacological properties
It is a glucocorticosteroid for inhalation use. It has anti-allergic, immunosuppressive, anti-inflammatory effects. Increases the production of an inhibitor of phospholipase A – lipomodulin, inhibits the release of arachidonic acid and the synthesis of products of its metabolism (cyclic endopericides, prostaglandins). Reduces inflammatory exudation, the production of lymphokines, reduces the intensity of granulation and infiltration, inhibits the migration of macrophages, the formation of chemotaxis, and the release of inflammatory mediators from mast cells. Promotes an increase in the number of active beta-adrenergic receptors, reduces edema of the bronchial mucosa, mucus production, stimulates mucociliary transport.
Indications
Pulmicort Turbuhaler is used:
- with various forms of bronchial asthma;
- with COPD.
Contraindications
Pulmicort Turbuhaler is contraindicated:
- with intolerance to the components of the drug;
- with an active form of pulmonary tuberculosis;
- with bacterial or viral infections of the respiratory system;
- with acute bronchospasm, status asthmaticus;
- with bronchitis of a non-asthmatic nature;
- children under 6 years old.
Use with caution:
- with cirrhosis of the liver;
- with glaucoma;
- with hypothyroidism;
- with bacterial, fungal, parasitic, viral infection (including amebiasis, tuberculosis of other organs, herpes of the lips or eyes);
- with osteoporosis.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

Method of administration and dosage
Pulmicort Turbuhaler is intended for inhalation use.
A single dose is 100 mcg or 200 mcg.
The daily dose is selected individually, taking into account the severity of the course of the disease, the dose of tableted GCS.
The standard maintenance dose is 200-800 mcg / day. During the period of exacerbation – 800-1600 mcg / day.
The maximum is 2000 mcg / day.
Children from 6 years of age are prescribed 100-200 mcg 2 times / day or 200-400 mcg 1 time / day. The maximum dose for children is 400 mcg 2 times / day.
Overdose
Symptoms of chronic intoxication: suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system (Cushing’s syndrome, including obesity with a characteristic deposition of fatty tissue in the abdomen, neck, face, chest, moon-shaped face, purple blush, increased appetite, stretch marks formation, acne rash, increased , hirsutism, dysmenorrhea, impotence, fluctuations in blood pressure, osteoporosis, spontaneous fractures). In this case, there is no need for emergency measures. Monitoring of the reserve function of the adrenal cortex is recommended.
Side effects
Possible cough, hoarseness, irritation of the mucous membrane of the oropharynx, candidiasis (including esophageal candidiasis, candidal stomatitis), dry mouth, changes in taste, headache, nausea, bruising, paradoxical bronchospasm, mental disorders (nervousness, depression, movement anxiety, behavior change).
Systemic side reactions are possible: irritating effect on the digestive tract, development of osteoporosis, weight gain, increased appetite, edema, increased blood pressure, development of cataracts.
Storage conditions and periods
Store Pulmicort Turbuhaler in its original packaging at a temperature not exceeding + 30 ° С. The maximum shelf life is two years from the date of production.
