Pharmacological properties

This solution is made in full accordance with what is recommended for use in case of intoxication and subsequent dehydration of the body by the World Health Organization.

A saline solution is prepared from the drug in question, which is customarily used in order to correct the loss of electrolytes lost during diarrhea, as well as fluid.

Due to the presence of glucose, the absorption of taken sodium and potassium salts increases, and the citrates in the composition help to correct the balance, which is especially important in cases where the patient has metabolic acidosis.

Indications

This drug Regydron Optim is used in the period after diarrhea of moderate to mild dehydration, in order to restore the water-electrolyte balance in the body and correct acidosis.

It can also be used for thermal injuries, in which water-electrolyte imbalance is also observed.
They are also used as a prophylaxis against heat and physical exertion that cause intense sweating.

Method of administration and dosage

The drug Regydron Optim is intended for the preparation of oral solution. To do this, 1 sachet of the drug is dissolved in half a liter of water at room temperature. Sugar should not be added to the solution (increases diarrhea).
It is taken either independently, in small sips (large doses can provoke vomiting) or, in difficult cases, through a tube, under the supervision of a doctor.

The dosage is calculated based on the degree of dehydration – usually it is from 50 to 100 ml of the drug per 1 kg of the patient’s weight. The duration of treatment is up to 4 hours. Longer use is also possible if the diarrhea continues, but no more than 3-4 days.

In particular, with a weight of 5 kg, take from 200 to 400 ml of the drug, with a weight of 11 to 16 kg – from 800 to 1200 ml, with a weight of more than 30 kg – take 2.2-4 liters of solution.

Do not eat after taking this drug.

If the patient is vomiting, then after the next attack, you should wait for 10 minutes, and only then take the drug.
With a severe degree of rehydration (weight loss in children of 9% or more, anuria, including in adults), intravenous drugs are used for rehydration. Oral saline solutions can then be used.
