Pharmacological properties
Remaxol is a balanced infusion solution that has a hepatoprotective effect. Under the action of the drug accelerates the transition from anaerobic to aerobic processes, improves the energy supply of hepatocytes, increases the synthesis of macroergs, increases the resistance of hepatocyte membranes to lipid peroxidation, restores the activity of antioxidant enzymes.
The effect of the drug Remaxol:
- reduces cytolysis, which is manifested in the reduction of indicator enzymes: aspartate aminotransferases, alanine aminotransferases;
- helps reduce bilirubin and its fractions, improves the excretion of direct bilirubin in bile. Reduces the activity of excretory enzymes of hepatocytes – alkaline phosphatase and gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase, promotes the oxidation of cholesterol to bile acids;
- does not inhibit cytochromes responsible for drug metabolism (CYP 1A2, CYP 3A4, CYP 2C9, CYP 2C19, CYP 2D6);
- does not cancel the antitumor effect of cytostatics (platinum drugs, antimetabolites, alkaloids), does not increase their toxic effect on the body, does not stimulate tumor growth.
Indication
Liver dysfunction due to acute or chronic damage (toxic, alcoholic, drug-induced hepatitis);
comprehensive treatment of viral hepatitis (in addition to etiotropic therapy).
Contraindication
Individual sensitivity to the components of the drug.
Method of application and dosage
Remaxol is administered only intravenously in a daily dose of 400 ml to 800 ml for 3-12 days, depending on the severity of the disease. The rate of injection is 40-60 drops (2-3 ml) per minute.

Allergic reactions in the form of a rash and an itch which are eliminated by use of antihistamines are possible.
Rare side effects include nausea, headache and dizziness.
Due to the activation of aerobic processes in the body, it is possible to reduce the concentration of glucose and increase the level of uric acid in the blood.
