Description

Rinazolin (oxymetazoline) nasal drops 0.01% 10 ml. vial

Composition

active ingredient: oxymetazoline;

1 ml of drops contains oxymetazoline hydrochloride in terms of 100% substance 0.1 mg;

excipients: benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate, purified water.

Dosage form

Nasal drops.

Basic physical and chemical properties: transparent colorless liquid.

Pharmacological group

Decongestants and other drugs for topical use in diseases of the nasal cavity. Sympathomimetics, simple drugs. Oxymetazoline.

Pharmacological properties

Rinazolin belongs to the group of local vasoconstrictors. Oxymetazoline has a sympathomimetic and vasoconstrictive effect, eliminating swelling of the nasal mucosa. It constricts blood vessels at the site of application, reduces swelling of the nasal mucosa and upper respiratory tract, and reduces nasal discharge. Restores nasal breathing. Elimination of swelling of the nasal mucosa helps to restore aeration of the paranasal sinuses, the middle ear cavity, which prevents the development of bacterial complications.

Oxymetazoline has antiviral, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and antioxidant effects. This combined mechanism of action has been shown in clinical studies to provide faster and more effective relief from the symptoms of acute rhinitis (nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, sneezing, feeling unwell).

Indications

Acute rhinitis, allergic rhinitis, attacks of non-infectious vasomotor rhinitis; to restore drainage and nasal breathing in diseases of the paranasal sinuses, with eustachitis in children under 1 year of age associated with rhinitis. To eliminate edema before diagnostic manipulations in the nasal passages in children under 1 year old.

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
  • Atrophic rhinitis.
  • Do not use after transsphenoidal hypophysectomy or other surgical interventions with exposure of the meninges.
  • When using monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors and within 2 weeks after stopping treatment with MAO inhibitors, as well as other drugs that increase blood pressure.
  • With increased intraocular pressure, especially with angle-closure glaucoma.
  • In severe forms of cardiovascular disease (for example, coronary heart disease, arterial hypertension).
  • Pheochromocytoma.
  • Metabolic disorders (hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus).
  • Hyperplasia of the prostate.
  • Porfiry.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

During the indicated periods, Rinazolin is used with extreme caution. Do not exceed the recommended doses.

Method of administration and dosage

Immediately before using the drug, the bottle should be held in the palm of your hand to warm it to body temperature. Before the introduction of the drug, you need to thoroughly clean the nose. Do not tighten the cap tightly before use! Before the first use of the drug, screw the cap of the vial to form a hole. After instillation, the caps must be tightly screwed on. Unscrew the cap, remove and, gently pressing on the body of the bottle, drip 1-2 drops of the solution into the nose. When instilled, the child’s head should be tilted back. It is necessary to hold a dosed vial in front of the nasal passage and apply the drug in each nasal passage.

Rinazolin nasal drops 0.01%, intended for instillation into the nose.

Children from birth to 4 weeks are prescribed 1 drop of Rinazolin in each nasal passage 2-3 times a day.

Children aged 5 weeks to 1 year – 1-2 drops of Rinazolin in each nasal passage 2-3 times a day.

A single dose of Rinazolin should not be used more than 3 times a day and longer than 5-7 days. Do not use doses higher than recommended.

Rinazolin is recommended for use in infants and children under 1 year of age. The necessary dose for infants with insufficient body weight and premature infants should be determined by the doctor.

Children

For children from birth to 1 year, Rinazolin 0.01% is used.

Overdose

Abuse of this pharmaceutical agent leads to atrophy of the nasal mucosa and medication rhinitis.
After a significant overdose of Rinazolin or its accidental ingestion, symptoms such as cyanosis (cyanosis), mydriasis (dilated pupils) or miosis (narrowing of the pupils), nausea, drowsiness, fever, fever, agitation, vomiting, tachycardia, pallor, arterial hyper- / hypotension, spasms, arrhythmia, pulmonary edema, hyperhidrosis (increased sweating), respiratory distress, mental disorders, convulsions. Also possible are cardiovascular failure, apnea (respiratory arrest), coma, cardiac arrest.
In case of an overdose with Rinazolin, gastric lavage, the use of enterosorbents, symptomatic and supportive therapy are indicated. If necessary, artificial lung ventilation, anticonvulsant therapy is performed.

Side effects

Side effects due to the use of Rinazolin include nasal discomfort, headache, nosebleeds, drowsiness, sneezing, dryness or burning of the nasal mucosa, convulsions, fatigue, arterial hypertension, tachycardia.
It is also possible to develop allergic reactions (including angioedema).
When the effect of using Rinazolin ends, you may experience a feeling of severe nasal congestion.
