Description
Salicylic-Zink paste (salicylic acid, zinc oxide) 25 g. tube
Composition
active ingredients: 1 g of paste contains salicylic acid 0.02 g, zinc oxide 0.25 g;
excipients: potato starch, white soft paraffin.
Dosage form
Paste.
Basic physical and chemical properties homogeneous mass of white color with a yellow tint.

Dermatological agents. Medicines with emollient and protective action. Medicines containing salicylic acid.

Pharmacological properties
This drug belongs to the group of drugs with a softening and protective effect, used in dermatology in the treatment of various skin pathologies.
Among the active ingredients are zinc oxide, salicylic acid. This drug produces anti-inflammatory, drying, absorbent, astringent and antiseptic effects.
Local application of zinc oxide helps to reduce drying of the skin, the severity of inflammatory processes, relieves irritation and softens the skin.
The drug forms a protective layer on the skin. Such a protective layer of the applied paste protects it from components that can irritate the skin and provoke a rash. Also, the drug protects the dermis from excess moisture.
Salicylic acid has antimicrobial and keratoplastic effects.
Indications
The drug Salicylic-Zink paste is used in order to carry out prevention or treatment for:
- dermatitis, diaper rash;
- pyoderma, rosacea;
- acne, acne;
- eczema, ulcers with a predominance of exudation.
Contraindications
The drug Salicylic-Zink paste in question is contraindicated for use in cases where the patient has severe hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or to one of the auxiliary components.
Also, use is contraindicated for:
- acute purulent-inflammatory diseases of the skin and adjacent tissues, purulent eruptions;
- chronic kidney disease;
- damage to the skin at the site of application;
- spasmophilia;
- bronchial asthma.
Do not allow the drug to come into contact with the eyes or open wounds.
Not used in pediatrics.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
This medication is not intended for use in pregnant or lactating women.
Method of administration and dosage
Apply externally.
For prevention, the paste is applied in a thin layer to clean and dry skin.
The paste is applied to the skin in a thin layer 2-3 times a day when the first signs of hyperemia (skin redness) or slight skin irritation appear.
It is undesirable to apply to large areas of the skin.
The duration of treatment depends on the course of the disease, the effect of the drug. The treatment usually lasts 6 to 20 days.
The patient should consult a doctor if the symptoms of the disease did not disappear during the use of the drug within seven days or if there are adverse reactions that are not specified in the instructions for medical use of the drug.
Overdose
Overdose with external use is impossible.
If accidentally swallowed, an overdose may cause:
- nausea;
- vomiting, diarrhea;
- stimulation of the nervous system, convulsions.
In this case, you should rinse the stomach, take enterosorbents, consult a doctor.
Side effects
The drug is usually well tolerated. In rare cases of hypersensitivity, adverse reactions may occur. In this case, such reactions are possible as:
- contact dermatitis, itching, erythema at the site of application, peeling, burns;
- dyspeptic disorders (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea);
- bronchospasm, angioneurotic edema;
- allergic reactions, rash, itching, allergic urticaria;
- irritation of the mucous membranes of the eyes, conjunctivitis when the drug gets into the eyes.
If side effects occur, the drug should be discontinued, symptomatic therapy should be undertaken, consult a doctor and the treatment regimen should be adjusted.
