Scientific Evidence

Azelaic acid has been extensively studied for its efficacy in treating acne. Research published in the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology demonstrated that azelaic acid gel is effective in reducing inflammatory acne lesions and improving overall skin appearance.

Additional Information

Skinoren gel has a favorable safety profile with minimal side effects such as mild skin irritation or dryness. It is well-tolerated by most individuals and can be used as a long-term acne treatment option.

Pharmacological Effects: Azelaic acid exerts its therapeutic effects by inhibiting the growth of acne-causing bacteria and reducing inflammation in the skin. It also helps to normalize keratinization, preventing the formation of new acne lesions.

Clinical Trials: Clinical trials have shown that Skinoren gel is as effective as other commonly used acne treatments, such as benzoyl peroxide and tretinoin, but with fewer side effects. A study published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology found that azelaic acid gel was well-tolerated and significantly reduced acne lesion counts after 12 weeks of treatment.
