Pharmacological properties
This drug belongs to a group of drugs that are used in the local treatment of poorly healing wounds, contribute to their scarring. Also used in gastroenterology, as well as to improve metabolism.
The active ingredient of the drug is sea buckthorn oil. Sea buckthorn is a plant of the buckthorn or buckthorn species. It has been used as a medicinal product since the time of Ancient Greece. It is multivitamin, as it contains many vitamins, including vitamins A, B, C, E, K and others. It also contains pectins, tannins, flavonoids, nicotinic and folic acids, macro- and microelements, herbal antibiotics.
Suppositories based on sea buckthorn have the ability to fight bacteria due to the fact that the oil of this plant contains fat-soluble biologically active antioxidants.
Their effect helps to reduce the activity of free radicals, protecting cells from damage, thus acting as an antioxidant.
This drug is able to stimulate the processes of recovery and repair, accelerating the healing of tissues that have been damaged.
It also has an antibacterial, more precisely bacteriostatic effect.

Indications
This drug is used in the treatment of pathological processes in the rectum:

  • erosive and ulcerative, catarrhal and atrophic proctitis;
  • sphincteritis;
  • cracks in the anus;
  • hemorrhoids.

Contraindications
The drug in question is contraindicated for use in cases where the patient has severe hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or to one of the auxiliary components.
Also contraindicated for:

  • diarrhea;
  • pancreatitis;
  • gallstone disease.

Children
In pediatrics, it can be used from 6 years of age.

Application during pregnancy and lactation
This drug is contraindicated for pregnant women.
If it is necessary to take the drug during breastfeeding, lactation is suspended.

Method of administration and dosage
The drug is administered rectally.
With proctological diseases:

  • adults and children over 12 years old – put 1 candle 1-3 times a day for 7-10 days;
  • children from 6 to 12 years old – 1 suppository 1 time per day for 7-10 days.

The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor depending on the nature and course of the disease.
When a suppository is injected into the rectum, the effect of the drug appears after 15-90 minutes.
The duration of the resorption effect of alkaloids ranges from 2 to 6 hours.

Overdose
