Scientific Evidence

Amlodipine, the active ingredient in Samlopin, is a calcium channel blocker that works by relaxing the blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood. Studies have shown that amlodipine is effective in lowering blood pressure and reducing the frequency of angina attacks. Research published in the Journal of Hypertension demonstrated the long-term efficacy and safety of amlodipine in the management of hypertension.

Additional Information

It is important to regularly monitor blood pressure while taking Samlopin to ensure it is effectively controlled. Inform your doctor about any other medications you are taking to avoid potential drug interactions. If you experience any severe side effects such as swelling of the face or difficulty breathing, seek immediate medical attention.

Pharmacological Effects: Amlodipine blocks the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. This action results in vasodilation and decreased peripheral vascular resistance, leading to reduced blood pressure.

Clinical Trials: Clinical trials have shown that amlodipine is as effective as other antihypertensive agents in lowering blood pressure. A study published in the American Journal of Medicine compared the efficacy of amlodipine with enalapril and found similar reductions in blood pressure with both medications.
