Composition
active ingredient: diosmectite;
1 sachet contains diosmectite (dioctahedral smectite) 3 g;
excipients: glucose monohydrate, sodium saccharin, vanillin.
Dosage form
Powder for oral suspension.
Basic physical and chemical properties: powder from grayish-white to ocher color with a slight smell of vanilla.

Pharmacological properties
This drug is used as an enterosorbent.
The active active ingredients that make up the preparation, aluminum and magnesium double silicate, have a stereometric structure and high plastic viscosity.
The drug has an enveloping ability against the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract, prevents water-electrolyte disorders.
Able to interact with mucus glycoproteins, increasing the barrier function of the mucous membrane of the digestive tract.
The active ingredient has the property of absorbing and thus removing toxic substances and radionuclides from the body, producing a detoxic and absorbing effect.
In addition, diosmectite is able to protect the mucous membrane of the digestive tract from aggressive factors such as hydrochloric acid, bile acids, and pepsin.
Indications
This drug Smecta vanilla is used as an enterosorbent. In particular, when:
- symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in children over 1 month of age, as well as in the complex therapy of adults with oral rehydration solution;
- symptomatic treatment of chronic diarrhea;
- symptomatic treatment of pain associated with esophagogastroduodenal and intestinal diseases.
Contraindications
Not applicable if the patient has hypersensitivity (allergy) to one of the components that make up the drug.
It is not recommended to use if you suspect that the patient may have intestinal obstruction, as well as with a tendency to constipation.
Also contraindicated in case of fructose, galactose intolerance.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
This drug is not recommended for pregnant women or women during breastfeeding.
Method of administration and dosage
The contents of the Smecta vanilla sachet must be dissolved in half a glass (about 100 ml) of water (liquid), taken orally before or after an hour and a half after taking food or medications.
If the drug is being prepared for a child, it is permissible to mix the contents of the sachet in a bottle with 50 ml of water or compote, broth, fruit puree, baby food. Consume throughout the day.
Dosages for acute diarrhea:
- children aged 1 months to 1 year old – 2 sachets per day, for 3 days, after which – 1 sachet per day;
- from 1 year old – 4 sachets per day, for 3 days, then take 2 sachets per day;
- adults – 1 sachet 3 times a day. At the beginning of treatment, the dosage can be doubled.
Application for other indications:
- children from 1 month to 1 year old – 1 sachet per day;
- children from 1 to 2 years old – 1 sachet 2 times a day;
- children 2 years and older – 2-3 sachets per day;
- adults – an average of 3 sachets per day.
The course of treatment is from 3 to 7 days.
If necessary, the course of treatment can be repeated.
Overdose
Overdose has not been observed at the moment. Constipation and bezoar formation are possible.
In case of accidental overdose, symptomatic treatment is recommended, taking enterosorbents.
Side effects
Usually, patients tolerate the use of the drug well. In some cases, constipation, flatulence, and vomiting may occur.
Allergic reactions in the form of rash, urticaria, itching, angioedema are possible.
In patients with diarrhea, dehydration and electrolyte imbalances may occur. In this case, it is necessary to apply replacement therapy to replenish the lost fluid and electrolytes in the body.
