Composition

active substance: xylometazoline hydrochloride;

1 ml of solution contains 0.5 mg or 1 mg of xylometazoline hydrochloride;

excipients: potassium dihydrogen phosphate, sea water, purified water.

Pharmacological properties

Spray Snup is a vasoconstrictor drug for local use, which relieves tissue edema, contributes to the narrowing of arterial vessels, leads to the restoration of the patency of the upper airways for air, which helps to quickly relieve nasal breathing, and also significantly reduces the severity of the common cold.

Indications

Snup nasal spray is used for acute allergic rhinitis, eustachitis, sinusitis, otitis media, hay fever, sinusitis, frontal sinusitis, as well as for acute respiratory diseases that manifest rhinitis and runny nose.
A spray is also used to facilitate various diagnostic procedures in the nasal and upper respiratory tract, including rhinoscopy.

Contraindications

The use of Snup spray is contraindicated if the patient has such diseases as:

  • arterial hypertension;
  • severe arterial atherosclerosis;
  • thyrotoxicosis;
  • glaucoma;
  • atrophic rhinitis;
  • tachycardia;
  • previous surgical operations on the membranes of the brain;
  • children under 2 years old.
  • individual intolerance to the components that make up the drug.

Children under the age of 6 are contraindicated to use a 0.1% spray solution. Care should be taken to use the drug for coronary heart disease, diabetes mellitus and prostatic hyperplasia in men.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
The drug Snoop is contraindicated for pregnant women, and during breastfeeding, use a spray with extreme caution.

Method of administration and dosage

When applying Snup spray, you need to remove the protective cap from the bottle and make a few clicks, then insert the spray tip into the nasal passage, press the rim of the spray nozzle and spray the nasal mucosa. But first, it is advisable to clear the nasal cavity from the mucus accumulated in it.
Children aged 2 to 6 years old apply a 0.05% spray solution, one injection into each nostril 3 times a day.
Duration of treatment is 5-7 days. It is not recommended to use the drug more often than 3 times a day. Each bottle of Snup Spray is designed for individual use.

Overdose

A significant excess of the recommended dose of the drug can lead to the manifestation of side effects, in which case it is necessary to carry out symptomatic therapy.

Side effects

The use of Snup nasal spray can lead to the development of various negative reactions, such as: vomiting, palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmia, arterial hypertension, headache and insomnia, various visual impairments, depression and irritation. Dryness of the nasal mucosa is also possible, accompanied by burning, increased mucus secretion, sneezing or swelling of the nasal mucosa.
If any side effects appear, the dosage of the drug should be reduced, but if this did not give positive results, in this case, the use of the spray should be canceled and the doctor should be consulted.
