Composition

active substance: sertraline;

1 tablet contains 100 mg of sertraline (as 111.9 mg of sertraline hydrochloride);

Excipients: magnesium stearate, hydroxypropylcellulose, sodium starch glycolate (type A), calcium hydrogen phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, macrogol 6000, titanium dioxide (E 171).

Dosage form

Film-coated tablets.

Main physical and chemical properties: white or almost white, biconvex film-coated tablets, oval, with stylized engraving “E 272” on the one hand and a dash – on the other hand, odorless.

Pharmacological properties

Sertraline is a potent and specific inhibitor of neuronal serotonin uptake (5-HT) in vitro, which potentiates the effects of 5-HT in animals. Sertraline has only a very weak effect on the renal neuronal uptake of norepinephrine and dopamine. At clinical doses, sertraline blocks the uptake of serotonin into human platelets. The drug does not show stimulating, sedative, anticholinergic or cardiotoxic effects in animal experiments. In controlled studies in healthy volunteers, sertraline was not sedative and did not affect psychomotor function.

Indications

An effective antidepressant. The drug Stimuloton is used to treat and prevent depression of all types and types, panic conditions, including agoraphobia, post-traumatic stress, is effective in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorders, starting from the age of 6.
The active ingredient Stimulotonasertralin does not stimulate an increase in body weight, unlike other antidepressants, it does not cause drug or mental dependence. The effect of taking the drug is observed in the period from 2 weeks of admission to the maximum effect – after taking it for one and a half months.

Contraindications

Reception of Stimuloton is contraindicated if the patient is taking treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitors), epilepsy. Extremely cautious should be prescribed for cerebral palsy, mental retardation, renal and hepatic failure, manic state.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

No studies have been conducted on pregnant women. There is no evidence of harm to the fetus and mother when taking Stimuloton.

Method of administration and dosage

Regardless of the dose of the drug, Stimulot is taken once a day, preferably at the same time of day. For panic disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and also, if the drug is prescribed to children from 6 years old, the dose is 25 mg per day, for depression – 50 mg. The dose is doubled after 1 week of admission. The maximum dose for these disorders is 200 mg per day.
The maintenance dosage should be of minimal effect.
When treating patients with liver problems, the dose is either reduced or the frequency of taking the drug is increased. The final decision on the dosage and duration of treatment is made by the doctor, based on the individual characteristics of the patient.

Overdose

With an overdose of drugs containing sertraline, there were no negative symptoms. However, the simultaneous intake of Stimuloton tablets with alcohol can lead to serious intoxication. Symptoms of this phenomenon are nausea, vomiting, tachycardia, agitation or depression of the central nervous system. It is necessary to prescribe gastric lavage, intake of sorbents, symptomatic treatment.

Side effects

Reception of Stimuloton tablets can be accompanied by manifestations of reactions from the gastrointestinal tract (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, colic, abdominal pain), from the nervous system (fatigue, dizziness, drowsiness, irritability, psychosis, aggression, convulsions, or, on the contrary, worsening depression , anxiety), genital disorders (decreased libido, anorgasmia, impotence, menstrual irregularities), from the cardiovascular system – tachycardia, skin allergic reactions in the form of rash, erythema multiforme can also be observed.
