Composition

active substances: metronidazole, chlorhexidine;

1 g of gel contains metronidazole benzoate in terms of metronidazole 10 mg, chlorhexidine digluconate 0.5 mg;

Excipients: propylene glycol, carbomer, saccharin sodium, menthol, sodium hydroxide, disodium edetate (Trilon B), purified water.

Dosage form

Gel for gums.

Basic physical and chemical properties: soft translucent gel of white or almost white color.

Pharmacological properties

It is a combined antimicrobial agent used in dentistry. Efficiency is ensured by the presence of two components – metronidazole and chlorhexidine. Metronidazole is a 5-nitroimidazole. The mechanism of its action is due to the ability to interact with deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) of cells of microorganisms. In this case, the production of nucleic acids is inhibited and bacteria die. Active against protozoa: Entamoeba histolytica, Trichomonas vaginalis, Giardia lamblia, as well as facultative anaerobes Bacterodes spp. (Bacteroides ovatus, Bacteroides fragilis, Bacteroides distasonis, Bacteroides thetaiotaomіcron, Bacteroides vulgaris), Prevotella spp. (Prevotella buccae, Prevotella bivia, Prevotella disiens), Fusobacterium spp., Veіllonella spp., Some facultative obligate (Clostridium spp.), Facultative (Eubacterіum spp., Peptococcus spp., Peptococcus spp., Peptostreptob. Gardnerella vaginalis. Aerobes are insensitive to metronidazole, but in the presence of mixed flora (anaerobes + aerobes), it acts synergistically with antibiotics. Chlorhexidine is a bactericidal antiseptic (kills bacteria). Active against a wide range of vegetative forms of gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms, as well as yeast, dermatophytes and lipophilic viruses.

Indications

Stomato-gel Zdorovya is prescribed for the local treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the periodontal (tissues surrounding the tooth) and oral mucosa:

• with acute / chronic gingivitis (edematous, atrophic, hyperplastic);
• with acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis of Vincent;
• with aphthous stomatitis;
• with periodontitis, periodontal abscess.

Contraindications

Stomato-gel Zdorovya cannot be prescribed:

• if you are allergic to metronidazole, other nitroimidazole derivatives;
• if you are allergic to chlorhexidine;
• with intolerance to auxiliary components;
• children under 14 years old.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

This medication is contraindicated during pregnancy.
The active components are able to penetrate into breast milk, therefore, breastfeeding during the treatment period should be canceled. You can resume feeding no earlier than 48 hours after the end of the use of this medication.

Method of administration and dosage

Topically, for dental use only.

The drug should be used after consultation with a dentist.

Adults with gingivitis (gingivitis) apply the drug on the gums 2 times a day. After applying the gel for 30 minutes, do not rinse your mouth, drink or eat. The average duration of treatment is 7-10 days.

At periodontitis after removal of dental deposits periodontal pockets to process a preparation, and also to put it on gums. Duration of application – 30 minutes. The number of procedures depends on the severity of the disease. In the subsequent application of the drug the patient does independently. Apply the gel to the gums 2 times a day for 7-10 days.

To prevent exacerbations of chronic gingivitis and periodontitis, apply to the gums 2 times a day for 7-10 days. Preventive courses of treatment should be carried out 2-3 times a year.

For the treatment of post-extraction alveolitis after tooth extraction, the hole should be treated with the drug, then apply independently 2-3 times a day for 7-10 days.

To prevent exacerbations of chronic gingivitis and periodontitis, bleeding gums and bad breath, the gel should be rubbed into the gums with a finger massage for 2-3 minutes, after rubbing spit, do not rinse your mouth.

In order to prevent exacerbations in patients with catarrhal gingivitis and generalized periodontitis of mild severity, finger massage the gums with the drug for 2-3 minutes in the morning and evening after hygienic brushing, after the procedure should refrain from rinsing and drinking for one hour. Preventive courses of treatment lasting 2 weeks should be performed 2-3 times a year.

Children

Not recommended.

Overdose

Cases of overdose with Stomato-gel Zdorovya are not described.
In case of accidental ingestion, the following symptoms can be observed: vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, impaired coordination, paresthesia, a metallic taste in the mouth, dizziness, convulsions.
Oral treatment: gastric lavage, supportive therapy.

Side effects:

• Local reactions: irritation, itching, burning.
• Digestive disorders: change in taste, dry mouth, metallic taste, nausea, loss of appetite, constipation / diarrhea.
• Neurological disorders: dizziness, headache.
• Allergic reactions: itching, hives, rash.
• General: red-brown urine staining.
