Tantum Verde (benzydamine) solution for the oral cavity 1.5 mg/1 ml. 120 ml. vial

Composition

active substance: benzydamine hydrochloride;

100 ml of solution contain 0.15 g of benzydamine hydrochloride;

Excipients: ethanol 96%, glycerin, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), flavor (menthol), saccharin, sodium bicarbonate, polysorbate 20, quinoline yellow (E 104), patented blue V (E 131), purified water.

Dosage form

Oral solution.

Main physical and chemical properties: clear green liquid with a typical mint taste.

Pharmacological properties

Benzidamine is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic and anti-exudative properties.

In clinical trials, benzydamine has been shown to be effective in relieving the symptoms that accompany localized irritant pathological processes in the mouth and pharynx. In addition, benzydamine has anti-inflammatory and local analgesic effects, has a local anesthetic effect on the mucous membrane of the oral cavity.

Indications

Tantum Verde solution is prescribed for the symptomatic treatment of pain in inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity, ENT organs of various origins:

  • with gingivitis (inflammation of the gums), glossitis (inflammation of the tongue), stomatitis (inflammatory processes in the oral cavity), including after chemotherapy, radiation therapy;
  • with pharyngitis (inflammation of the pharynx), laryngitis (inflammation of the larynx), tonsillitis (inflammation of the tonsils);
  • with candidiasis (fungus) of the oral mucosa;
  • with calculous (with the formation of stones) inflammation of the salivary glands;
  • after injuries, surgical interventions (fracture of the jaw, tonsillectomy);
  • after dental treatment, tooth extraction;
  • in periodontitis.

Contraindications

Do not use Tantum Verde solution:

  • at an allergy to benzydamine, intolerance of auxiliary components;
  • at the age of up to three years.

It is used with caution in case of allergic sensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, bronchial asthma (including in the past).

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Not recommended.

Method of application and dose

Using a measuring cup, measure out 15 ml of Tantum Verde solution from the vial and rinse the mouth with undiluted or diluted (15 ml of measured solution can be diluted with 15 ml of water) preparation. Rinsing should be performed
2-3 times a day. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Children

Do not use in children under 12 years of age due to the possibility of swallowing the solution while rinsing the mouth.

Overdose

Accidental ingestion of the drug may include the following symptoms: abdominal cramps, vomiting, anxiety, hallucinations, fear, convulsions, fever, ataxia (incoordination), palpitations, respiratory depression.
Treatment of overdose: clean the stomach by inducing vomiting or lavage using a gastric tube (under medical supervision), using enterosorbents (eg activated charcoal), and provide medical supervision, symptomatic and supportive therapy, and necessary hydration.

Side effects:

  • Local reactions: dry mouth, burning in the mouth, numbness in the mouth.
  • Allergic reactions: photosensitization (sensitivity to the sun), skin rash, angioneurotic edema, itchy skin, laryngospasm, anaphylactic reactions, up to the development of shock.
