Tantum Verde (benzydamine) spray for the oral cavity 1.5 mg/1 ml. 30 ml. vial

Composition

active substance: benzydamine hydrochloride;

100 ml of oral spray contain 0.15 g of benzydamine hydrochloride;

Excipients: ethanol 96%, glycerin, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), flavoring (menthol), saccharin, sodium bicarbonate, polysorbate 20, purified water.

Dosage form

Oral spray.

Basic physical and chemical properties: clear colorless liquid with a typical mint taste.

Pharmacological properties

Benzidamine is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic and anti-exudative properties.

In clinical trials, benzydamine has been shown to be effective in relieving the symptoms that accompany localized irritant pathological processes in the mouth and pharynx. In addition, benzydamine has anti-inflammatory and local analgesic effects, has a local anesthetic effect on the mucous membrane of the oral cavity.

Indications

Symptomatic treatment of irritation and inflammation of the oropharynx; pain caused by gingivitis, stomatitis, pharyngitis; in dentistry after tooth extraction or for prophylactic purposes.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to other components of the drug.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Not recommended.

Method of application and dose

Tantum Verde spray is applied topically by irrigating the oropharynx. In one dose (injection) 0.255 mg.
Tantum Verde spray is used after meals. Adults (including elderly patients), children older than twelve years are prescribed 4-8 injections x2-6 times / day. Children 6-12 years – 4 injections x2-6 times / day. Children 3-6 years – one injection for every 4 kg of body weight, but not more than 4 injections x2-6 times / day. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Overdose

Accidental ingestion of the drug may include the following symptoms: abdominal cramps, vomiting, anxiety, hallucinations, fear, convulsions, fever, ataxia (incoordination), palpitations, respiratory depression.
Treatment of overdose: clean the stomach by inducing vomiting or lavage using a gastric tube (under medical supervision), using enterosorbents (eg activated charcoal), and provide medical supervision, symptomatic and supportive therapy, and necessary hydration.

Side effects:

  • Local reactions: dry mouth, burning in the mouth, numbness in the mouth.
  • Allergic reactions: photosensitization (sensitivity to the sun), skin rash, angioneurotic edema, itchy skin, laryngospasm, anaphylactic reactions, up to the development of shock.
