Tavegyl (clemastine) tablets 1 mg. №20

Composition

active substance: clemastine;

1 tablet contains clemastine fumarate 1.34 mg, which corresponds to 1 mg of clemastine;

Excipients: magnesium stearate, povidone, talc, corn starch, lactose monohydrate.

Dosage form

Tablets.

Basic physical and chemical properties: tablets of white or almost white color, round, flat with beveled edges. On one side there is a line and engraving O / T.

Pharmacological properties

Tavegyl is an H1-receptor antagonist. It belongs to the antihistamines of the group of benzhydryl esters. Tavegil selectively inhibits histamine H1-receptors and reduces capillary permeability. It has a pronounced antihistamine and antipruritic effect, characterized by rapid onset and long duration (up to 12 hours).

Indication

Hay fever, allergic rhinitis, urticaria (including dermographic), itching, allergic dermatoses; as an adjunct in acute and chronic eczema; contact dermatitis, as well as allergic reactions caused by drugs or insect bites.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to clemastine or to the excipients of the drug, as well as to antihistamines of similar chemical structure; porphyria.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

Important contraindications for the appointment of Tavegyl are pregnancy and lactation.

Method of administration and dosage

The tablets should be taken before meals. Adult patients and children who have turned 12 years old, take the drug 1 tablet 2 times a day. If taking Tavegyl in a standard dosage does not allow obtaining the required therapeutic effect, then the dose of the drug can be increased to 6 tablets per day. Children from 6 to 12 years old should take 0.5 or 1 tablet twice a day.

Overdose

Taking Tavegyl tablets in high doses is capable of both depressing and stimulating effects on the human central nervous system. Also, patients may experience dryness of the oral mucosa, fixed dilation of the pupils, rush of blood to the upper body, disruption of the digestive tract.
To eliminate the symptoms of poisoning, the patient is washed with an isotonic sodium chloride solution, saline laxatives are prescribed and symptomatic treatment is prescribed.

Side effects

Taking Tavegyl tablets may be accompanied by the development of increased fatigue, drowsiness, sedation, fatigue, impaired coordination of movements, dizziness, tremors of the extremities, dyspeptic disorders, decreased appetite, nasal congestion, palpitations, visual impairment, tinnitus, increased urination, photosensitivity and anaphylactic shock.
