Pharmacological Effects: Ursodeoxycholic acid works by reducing the amount of cholesterol produced by the liver and by dissolving cholesterol in bile, preventing the formation of gallstones. It also has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects, which can be beneficial in liver diseases.
Clinical Trials: Clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of Ursosan capsules in improving liver function tests, reducing cholesterol saturation in bile, and promoting the dissolution of cholesterol gallstones. Patients treated with Ursodeoxycholic acid have shown a decrease in liver enzyme levels and an improvement in symptoms associated with cholestatic liver diseases.
