Description
Cardiomagnyl (Acetylsalicylic Acid) Coated Tablets 75 mg
Composition
Each Cardiomagnyl tablet contains 75 mg of Acetylsalicylic acid as the active ingredient. Other ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, and magnesium stearate.
Mechanism of Action
Acetylsalicylic acid works by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase, thereby reducing the production of prostaglandins which are involved in inflammation, pain, and fever.
Pharmacological Properties
Cardiomagnyl exhibits antiplatelet, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties due to its effects on prostaglandin synthesis.
Indications for Use
Cardiomagnyl is indicated for the prevention of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes in patients with a history of these conditions.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity: Patients with a known hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid or any other component of the product should not use Cardiomagnyl.
- Active Peptic Ulcer: Individuals with an active peptic ulcer or a history of peptic ulcer disease should avoid Cardiomagnyl.
- Severe Organ Failure: Cardiomagnyl is contraindicated in patients with severe liver, kidney, or heart failure.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Cardiomagnyl may include gastrointestinal irritation, ulceration, and bleeding. Other side effects can include allergic reactions and prolonged bleeding time.
Usage Instructions
The recommended dosage is one tablet per day. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a sufficient amount of liquid, preferably at the same time each day. Cardiomagnyl can be taken with or without food.
Benefits Compared to Analogues
Cardiomagnyl offers the advantage of combining the antiplatelet effects of acetylsalicylic acid with gastrointestinal protection due to its enteric coating, thus reducing the risk of gastrointestinal side effects compared to some other antiplatelet medications.
Suitable Patient Groups
Cardiomagnyl is suitable for adult patients, including the elderly, who require antiplatelet therapy for cardiovascular protection. It should not be used in children unless specifically prescribed by a healthcare provider.
Storage and Shelf Life
Store Cardiomagnyl in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the tablets in the original packaging to protect them from moisture. Check the expiration date on the packaging and do not use the product after it has expired.
