Description

Xarelto (rivaroxaban) Coated Tablets 10 mg. №100

Ingredients:

Each coated tablet contains 10 mg of rivaroxaban as the active ingredient. Other ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, lactose monohydrate, hypromellose, and more.

Mechanism of Action:

Rivaroxaban is a direct factor Xa inhibitor that selectively blocks the active site of factor Xa, inhibiting thrombin formation and preventing blood clot formation in the coagulation cascade.

Pharmacological Properties:

Xarelto exerts its anticoagulant effects by inhibiting factor Xa, which plays a crucial role in the coagulation pathway, thereby reducing the risk of thrombotic events.

Indications for Use:

Xarelto is indicated for the prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, treatment and prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), and for the prevention of recurrent DVT and PE.

Contraindications:

Do not use Xarelto in patients with active major bleeding or hypersensitivity to rivaroxaban. It is contraindicated in patients with hepatic disease associated with coagulopathy and those taking other anticoagulants.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Xarelto may include bleeding, bruising, and dizziness. Patients should seek medical attention if any signs of bleeding occur.

Usage Instructions:

The usual dosage of Xarelto is one 10 mg tablet taken orally once daily with or without food. The dosage may vary depending on individual medical conditions and as directed by a healthcare provider. Swallow the tablet whole with water and do not crush, chew, or break it. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible on the same day.

Benefits Compared to Analogues:

Xarelto has shown efficacy in reducing the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in atrial fibrillation patients compared to traditional anticoagulants like warfarin. Studies have also demonstrated its non-inferiority in the treatment and prevention of DVT and PE when compared to standard anticoagulant therapy.

Suitable Patient Groups:

Xarelto is suitable for adult patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, those requiring treatment for DVT and PE, and individuals at risk of recurrent DVT and PE. Dosage adjustments may be necessary for specific patient populations such as the elderly or those with renal impairment.

Storage and Shelf Life:

Xarelto should be stored at room temperature away from moisture and heat. The shelf life of the product is as indicated on the packaging.

Packaging Description:

Xarelto is available in packs containing 100 coated tablets, each tablet being 10 mg of rivaroxaban. The packaging should be kept intact until the tablets are used to maintain product quality.
