Mechanism of Action
Meloxicam, the active ingredient in Movalgyn tablets, is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), thereby reducing the production of prostaglandins that cause pain and inflammation.
Pharmacological Properties
- Meloxicam is known for its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties.
- It selectively inhibits COX-2 enzyme, which is responsible for inflammation, while sparing COX-1 enzyme, maintaining gastrointestinal mucosa integrity.
Scientific Evidence
Several studies have shown the efficacy of meloxicam in the treatment of various inflammatory conditions, with results indicating significant pain relief and improved joint function compared to placebo.
Side Effects
- Common side effects of Movalgyn may include gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, and headache.
- Serious side effects such as gastrointestinal ulcers and cardiovascular events may occur, especially with long-term use or at high doses.
Additional Information
It is important to follow the prescribed dosage of Movalgyn to minimize the risk of side effects. Consult your healthcare provider before starting Movalgyn, especially if you have a history of stomach ulcers, high blood pressure, or heart disease.
